Ok, I have a question. I've been having problems with the fuse for my 12v outlet in my nissan versa burning out all the time... like my cell phone charger has burnt it out before. Does anyone know anything about nissans and how I can fix this?

Have you tried a different phone charger? Have you recently tried that charger in another car?
How many amp fuse is it?

It sounds like you have the wrong fuse ampage in there. What is it currently? I think it's supoposed to have a 20 Amp fuse in it (depends on your vehicle). Try replacing it. If that doesn't work... could it be a grounding problem?

I've never seen a 12v outlet with a fuse value lower than 15a, and a cell charger shouldn't come close to blowing that under normal conditions. In fact, a cell charger shouldn't come close to blowing a 5a fuse. You have a short circuit somewhere, but it's not necessarily in the outlet. Does it always blow when there's an accessory plugged in, or sometimes without? Is the cell charger the only thing that you use with the outlet?

yeah, I tried my charger in both my roommates and a friends car and it ran fine for over 5 minutes without blowing any fuses (it blows out the fuse in my car in less than 2 minutes) and yes I do occasionally use a satellite radio in my car... but I haven't used it sense before I started having problems with the problems with the fuse burning out.
oh and it had a 15 amp to begin with, owners manual says it should be 15 amp, and i've been replacing it with 15 amp

Welll then given your checking of things annd the facts given I would have to conclude that you have a short circuit. Go back to nissan and have them check the ground, the socket itself and the connections in between.
Are there any other wierd little glitches going on? That might give a clue if its somethign that shares a main distribution circuit (ie sometimes the dash lights or dome light is on the same circuit as the lighter or the radio and the lighter)
But yeah you should not be having those problems.

Regarding "no 12V outlet fuse less than 15 amps", some Hyundai products had 10 amp fuses.
Is the 12V outlet the only thing on this fuse? On my "other car", the outlet and the heated mirrors are on the same fuse. Perhaps your cellphone charger is the "straw that broke the camel's back" when the other device is working (and on some cars with heated mirrors, you need to do something wierd to turn the heat off - I've heard that on VWs, you need to move the "select which mirror to adjust" control out of the centre position (i.e. so bumping the touch pad will change a mirror setting).
