Hope you are all having a great day and have taken the time to reflect on our fallen war heros this ANZAC day.

Thanks! My boyfriend and I went to the ANZAC parade today in Brisbane, it was packed there! It was great to see everyone out supporting the soliders. It's also always nice to have a day off too.
Thanks to all of the many soldiers who fought for our freedom and gave their lives at such a young age.
My boyfriend is 24 and would have surely been fighting now if we have been born back then, along with my brother and all of my male friends.
I dont know how I would have coped with losing any of them, even if it was for the greater good.
I hope that I would have enough guts to enlist myself and do my part (what ever that would have been) to support the war effort.
I love ANZAC day, its the one day out countries forget our friendly rivalry and unite, thanks to our Aussie brothers and sisters.

same here, thank you to our New Zealand brothers and sisters..
I am in Japan, but my heart is always in Australia, I am the proud grandson of two WW2 ANZAC Diggers who fought in both theatres - one on the ground the other in the sky.
One grandfather passed away many years ago, and my other grandpa, despite having the ravages of advanced Parkinsons Disease still participated in the march in Melbourne to the Shrine of Rememberance, aided by my cousin.
One of my proudest moments was when grandpa was sick, I marched in his place - wearing his medals and standing tall, marching in step.
A very beautiful thing was that in the 1960's my grandparents hosted an exchange student from Japan... ever since, we have had a strong link with Japan - with me being the 4th family member to live here. Grandpa has long chosen to forgive and embrace the Japanese people.

I had to work :(
However I'll get paid more than for a usual Friday. I wore an old Anzac Day pin from the 1960s (found among my grandmother's things when she died) and watched the dawn service on TV as I got ready for work. I wanted to take a two-up set to my friday night gaming group but I couldn't find it. :(

I went to the Dawn Parade, here in our town. It was amazing, very misty, as it was 6.00am - the old soldiers marching past, quite a big crowd too for that hour of the morning - young and old. When the bugle played the Last Post I dont think I was the only one with tears running down my face. Two of my great uncles went to Gallipoli, one is buried there, one is buried in France. My boys are the older than they were when they left. My heart aches for all mothers who watch their children go off to war.
