I pay for my gas and electricity through the same people. It's one of those where you pay the same amount every month all the way through the year - makes it easier to budget, and it means that you may even end up with a surplus at the end of the period assigned.
I give my readings online when asked, and they came around to check it the other day, according to their records. They emailed me to say I had a new bill waiting.
Okay, they've adjusted the figure I'm paying for electricity from £30 per month to ... £8. Damn, but I'm in surplus.
Obviously, I've used far more gas in winter than in summer, but that's the same for everyone, and I'm in debit there right now, but it's not by much. However, when I moved in I was using about £3 of gas in two months for the first while, and this is with a regular payment of £21 per month.
I can see that one going down very shortly as well.
