My current guilty pleasure is Pirates of the Caribbean online. My problem is: sometimes my computer boots me out of the game and gives me a message along the lines of "A display driver has stopped working and recovered" (next time I see it, I'll post the actual text.)
Is there anything I can do to stop it from hiccuping? Any help is appreciated.

Update the drivers for your video card. Don't use beta drivers. Run the game in DX 9 if you're running it in DX 10. Without more info, that's about as useful as I get ;)

It could also be a sign of the card getting too hot. But get the latest driver first. If it still does it, then check the temperature of the card. For nvidia, it's in the nvidia control panel. Not sure for ATI, since I hate them and avoid learning how to deal with their cards :D

I think it's that. It usually happens after my laptop has run for a while.
Thanks!

Try making sure the laptop is on a solid surface while playing, even better is if you raise it a little higher off the desk (I use those rubber doorstops, 1" and a bit high).
The other thing worth thinking about is Notebook cooling mat (http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&DEPA=0&Description=norebook+cooling+mats&x=0&y=0)
