After a 12-month pregnancy (the norm is 11), Sweet Tart has finally delivered her baby, a beautiful tobiano colt. He's extremely healthy, alert, and is already giving his Mum a handful of trouble. Mom seems to be doing ok, though I'm keeping an eye on her backside to make sure everything heals and closes up properly. The only thing remotely 'wrong' with her is that she seems exhausted, which is understandable for a first-timer.

And without further ado, pics! We named him Sawyer. :)

Taking a much-needed nap with Mama. Though he doesn't like to stay down for very long, guess he's afraid he'll miss something!

I like the dog watching from the other side of the fence.

Such long legs he's got! Those knobbular knees should get him on Cute Overload! :D

I like the dog watching from the other side of the fence.

That would be Meeko, Mom's steroid fed Pomeranian. He sits outside the fence when we go out and keeps a vigilant watch on the baby. He seems to be under the impression that it's his and that Sweet Tart is merely taking care of it for him. It's cute how he's just obsessively fascinated with the new arrival. He and one of the other dogs actually got in there with the horses yesterday  I thought that was the end of them! Fortunately we called them out before Mama horse noticed.

Such long legs he's got! Those knobbular knees should get him on Cute Overload!

Random trivia: When horses are born, their legs are already approximately 3/4 the length they will be as adults. To help them escape from predators in the wild and keep up with the herd :)
