I had to do a very hard thing today. I had to place my 47 year old husband into a skilled nursing facility. He has had a total of four mini strokes (tia) and one minor stroke that has all hit the balance center of his brain. On top of all of that he had a fibroma (caused by his Neurofibromatosis) get scratched and he had MRSA set in last August. Because of the surgery and healing from the MRSA he has gotten very weak. We are trying to get him stronger and get him back on his feet.

Life is not fair, but that doesn't make the hard things any easier. This sounds like one of the hardest. I wish you both the best in getting through it.

Wow, that's got to be really tough.

Here's hoping he gets all the help he needs to get back to a point where he doesn't need so much help.

I just got back from seeing him. He is in good spirits today. They had him up using a walker in PT today.

if he still has open lesions from the MRSA-this may sound unpleasant but the have found maggot debriedment therapy (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maggot_therapy) to be highly effective in treatment.

"studies have shown that maggots inhibit and destroy a wide range of pathogenic bacteria including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), group A and B streptococci, and Gram-positive aerobic and anaerobic strains. In a published review of five patients who were infected with MRSA, some having failed conventional therapy for up to 18 months, maggot therapy was able to eliminate the bacterium from all wounds in an average of 4 days"
