Supermarket Slave Girl

I was sent this on facebook, it's about a little girl named Kelsey Briggs who was killed by her stepfather when she was 2 by a blow to her abdomen, her biological father was in Iraq and was looking forward to seeing his little girl but now he had to come home and bury her.

During her short life Kelsey suffered broken bones, bruises and scratches that were always blamed on something else, there was a time when her grandmother was given temporary custody but the judge sent her back to her mother where the abuse continued.

This is just another way the system has failed an innocent and Kelsey father is seeking 15 million in damages and a complete overhaul of the system, there is even a law that was passed in Kelseys' name.

The stepfather has recieved 30 years imprisonment, not eligable for parole for 25.5 years, it was also found that he sexually abused her so his sentence was added for that. The mother is given 27 years for enabling a child abuser. I hope they both rot.

To little Kelsey, Fly free sweet angel, no longer in pain and heaven is your playground, RIP.

It is, however, true (according to snopes.com). She died in 2005. http://www.snopes.com/politics/crime/briggs.asp There are a few details different than what was posted here, but things do tend to get altered once they start passing around on the web.

Ah, I was close when I said three years. No one said it wasn't true, just that it's an old story. I remember when it was on the news; it was on a nationwide station too (I think it was CNN, though it could have been FOX NEWS)
