I really want to get away from my current job. Management is causing a mass exodus with all of the excessive micro-management and other bs. I am already planing on searching for other jobs but I am going to be attending a convention at the end of June. I already got everything reserved and ready to go for it and if I back out I will be out a lot of money. Should I mention that at the interview or discuss it with HR after being hired? Any other suggestions? I really want to get out of this place.

You should definitely mention it. I'd wait till the end of the interview and they ask you if you have any questions. Just let them know that the company you are with right now might take retalliatory measures if they found out you were looking for another job. I'm sure they wouldn't want you to lose your only source of income, especially if they don't even know if you will get the job.

Myself, I'd mention it when scheduling the interview.

"Before we do schedule the interview, I have to inform you that I've already paid for a convention at the end of June, and failure to attend would result in my losing the money I've paid. I don't want this to be a problem for your company, so wanted to disclose that as early in the process as possible."

Seriously. Reinforce it at the interview, with each of the people you interview with. You only have to say it once, and answer whatever questions they ask about it honestly (for instance, if it's a gaming convention, tell them so. If they're going to have an issue with you attending it because of what it is, they're likely to have issues with you as a person, and it's better to find out these things before starting a new job).

That's what I did. I set up for a convention a whole year in advance and told the guy who hired me about it. He said to bring back pictures. :D
