So Indiana has had so much rain that some towns are 90% underwater. Fortunatly I have nothing nearby to flood me out but not everyone has been so lucky. My grandpa didn't flood but he has no pwer and he can't leave town because all the roads out are underwater. There's one town that nobody can get in or out of and they might have to build a bridge to get supplies in to people.
They've had to evacuate hospitals that have flooded and also two police departments. What's worse is we're suposed to get even MORE rain tomorrow. 10 counties in Indiana have been declared disaster areas. Fortunatly we have the US Marines in the state for the next two weeks and they've been a huge help.

Ugh, that sucks. You can send some rain here...it's effin' hot. I hate summer.
Hope your family is OK.

In Southern Wisconsin (as in "closer to Milwaukee"), they've been getting nailed with severe storms, tornadoes and uber-heavy rain.
And all I've gotten here is pleasant garden-variety thunderstorms. But today it's been raining all day so far.

Weather Lady said we'd be getting naught but rain and I don't have a cloud in the sky.
I have three boat skeletons that I can't afford to fix (probably the only thing EQ and i will inherit that isn't being sold off because they're "worthless." Whatever, Mimi.), you can come and get those to rebuild.

NO! Send it to Jersey!!!!
I broke down and turned on the AC this afternoon. I have a fan pointing toward the hallway so hopefully the bedrooms will be bearable by bedtime. I might end up getting an AC for my room after all...which will mean rearranging the furniture because my dresser is in front of the AC sleeve.

What's really bad is I'm in Illinois (Crawford County -- close to Terre Haute) Yesterday we had the same orders -- stay inside, avoid county roads [they were flooded].... Problem is, most of my town's doctors/etc is in Indiana.
Guess what bridges/roads were flooded?
For us to get to Indiana (Yesterday at least) we would'be had to of entered through Kentucky (or around there) or about two-three counties north of Terre Haute. Sad thing is, even with no more rain, we're going to get hit by the river again as the water from up north comes down.

My daughter goes to IU Bloomington and is attending summer school. She tried to get up to Indianapolis yesterday for her Dad's birthday and ended up turning back. When she called me she was just south of Martinsville and didn't know when she left that 37 was closed because Martinsville is completely flooded. After sitting for over 1 1/2 hours, she finally turned back (even though the State Police were saying not to) because it was so hot and miserable sitting there. She already knew she wasn't going to make it to Indy anyway. I live in Greenfield which is about 15 miles east of Indy. When I got up on Wednesday morning, the little drainage ditch a half block from me had flooded. People in 6 houses had to leave because the water was inside their houses. The street was full of firemen and utility workers. The flooding stopped just short of the parking pad for my building (right next to my car.) By evening it had completely receded. It is sad that the people in the 6 houses that got flooded have spent the rest of the week moving anything salvagable from their houses and throwing out all of the things that were ruined. And now they are calling for more rain Monday and Tuesday.

Yup yup more rain and with the heat and humidity we'll have Monday, it's gonna spawn off some nasty weather. Gonna make all the flooding worse.

I think you need a boat ASAP. I was in the bank today, cashing my paycheck when I seen the Indiana Flooding disaster on the news. Oh man, nasty stuff that.

my husband is slightly annoyed with me because of the rain----mainly because I keep thinking of the poor little baby bunnies/other defenseless critters that may drown-I currently have a caterpillar I saved from a puddle in a cage on the coffee table-I don't want to put him back out in the rain. My husband really doesn't like my impromptu short-term pets.
typical conversation-
Dear husband-DH
ME-(this space intentionally left blank)
Me-"but it's raaaaaiiiining, it'll drown!!!!"
DH-"I don't care it belongs outside-It'll be fine"
Me-"but if it dies I'll feel bad, and cry<pouts>."
DH-<exasperated sigh>-"fine, but no more for a few days hon"
ME-Yay!<skips of with latest critter saved for the deluge-to be released in a few days*>
*once I get it all fattened up and healthy-caterpillar is huge already.
