So I'm borrowing a friend's laptop for the week. I've been using it for a couple hours now and already I can tell it's going to end up getting on my nerves. The cursor pad (no clue what it's actually called..) is either broken or way too sensitive. If I move my finger on it wrong, the web page will act like I hit the back button. Randomly when I'm typing, it'll adjust where I should be typing so that suddenly the words are appearing in the middle of the paragraph I'm working on.

Like I said, I have no clue if it's broken or just too sensitive and I know it's not a whole lot to go on but I just know it's going to end up bugging me a lot. I also have never used a laptop for that long of a time before this either. Would it be a good idea to try to adjust the sensitivity of the cursor pad or does it sound like it's just plain not working right?

Actually, it sounds like your thumb is coming too close to the pad, and triggering it. Happened a lot with older touchpads.

If you can adjust the sensitivity down, do so. Otherwise, pay attention to where your thumbs are :)

That makes sense for when I'm typing but I'm not sure about when I'm actually trying to move the cursor and instead of just moving, it goes back several internet pages.

I'll try the sensitivity thing. Thanks for the help :D

Get a mouse & plug it in. I have a laptop & I never use the touch-pad.

Well I feel a bit silly now :) My mom does that with hers and I had completely forgotten. Luckily I have a bunch of extra mice so that will be perfect!

He probably did. That's what happens when you use a laptop as a weapon too many times :) I hooked the mouse up to it at work at it mostly behaved itself so I'll just grab one of the mac ones from that computer haul a while back and it'll be all good.
