Has anyone else heard those radio commercials for free laptops? Has anyone tried to get one?

No, but please bear in mind, in my neck of the woods, the only ads on the radio are for Menards, Farm and Fleet, and local bars.

I've heard the ads, but I'm too lazy to actually do anything about it. I have no clue about it, but I'd do a thorough search (if one can) on the company and if it's actually "free".

Nothing in life is free except the air you breathe and even then there's a catch.

I've heard those advertisements in the Washington State area, and they scream Spamtastic.

I would highly discourage them, and as other members have said "Nothing is free." That carries a load of truth to it.

If they were really giving away free laptops, how could they afford all those commercials?

I've seen ads for "Free XBox/Wii" on G4. I once tested it on a sandboxed computer, and they wanted you to sign up for about 15495 different "offers" (interestingly, I found out there were at least 3 which if I did not have selected, it would not let me continue. Never found out which ones they were though). I never actually completed it, but the throwaway email address I gave had the crap spammed out of it starting the next day.

A friend of mine signed up to a free Xbox 360 giveaway and started trying to get me to sign up. Apparently the more people you get to sign up, the less extra offers you have to sign up for to get the freebie.

So in short, it's a pyramid scheme/scam.

Yes, most of those do actually give you a whatever they're offering by the end of the offers-- but in terms of your time and privacy, it's not worth it:

I used to belong to a website that offered strategies to get these free offers with minimal investment, but I can't find it now.
