The honorary nephews are getting older without my permission. The youth of today, eh?

Anyway, I missed the birthday of one of the whippernsappers a couple of months ago, but the next one is this week - the 29th. Being the determined honorary uncle that I am, I decided to get them both a present.

http://www.megabloks.com/en/products/browse-alt.php?cat=1&subCat=3&lId=0 they've got a dragon eggs each.

The problem is that I picked up some wrapping paper as well, but I did this with an amused smirk. They're going to have to wait five days to unwrap the stuff, and it's in 'Disney Princess' paper - all nice and pink.

I'm evil.

It didn't go quite according to plan.

The plan as such was that they would go "Ewwww!" and consider refusing the presents, which would remain wrapped until Friday. Instead, I got a chorus of "Why's it in Barbie paper?" and the youngest - whose birthday had passed - was desperately ignoring the instruction to not open it until his brother's birthday, what with the toys being similar.

They're now hidden in parental room, so they're out of sight. Tch!

As the father said, though, the oldest one wouldn't mind that sort of prank - he has a wicked sense of humour.

Oh well, maybe an inflatable sheep for next year...

I remember a news story that i heard, where a guy was caught with some very illegal stuff. and at the end of the article they said "Police also found, on his bed, and inflatable sheep in fishnet stockings."

My wife's family does this stupid draw a number and pick a present thing. The person with #1 picks first. If the person with #2 likes what you have they can take it and then you get to pick again. My wife's brothers have always had a thing about tormenting my oldest son, some years he would be stuck with women's or girls stuff and if he cried they would just howl in laughter.
Two years ago my kids and I teamed up on them and returned the favor. One brother got a box of tampons, another a pocket book, and the third a bag of expired coupons. They later asked me what that was all about since it was obvious I was directing traffic, I told them I didn't appreciate how they had treated Jimmy over the years and payback was a b*tch. I was expecting retaliation last year but they didn't and they leave Jimmy alone. I guess the one thing that always got me in the whole thing was the wife thought it was funny and sided with her brothers over her own kid. Maybe I'm oversensitive where my kids are concerned but I would never pick my siblings over my kids.
