So Kaetchen and I met at the school the other day to go work out. We had been joking around and I had played the song on the radio for her with my passenger side window down. When I got out to talk to her, I just left the car on since I was just going to be standing on the other side of it. We finally gather all our stuff together and I grab my keys out and close the door. The work out is good but it starts raining really bad. Once we decide to brave the weather, we run out to my car. Guess what I forgot to do? Yup. My passenger window is still rolled down and it's been raining really hard and for a while now.

Everything in the front seat area is completely soaked. Luckily we didn't change in the gym after working out so it was just my work out clothes that got soaked since I have fabric seats. There was water everywhere. My glove box even had a puddle in it. The radio is acting funny so I have to turn it up all the way to even hear the weather alert is saying and I think my drivers side speaker is out. The radio gets turned off and now I can hear a weird high pitched noise that gets louder when my rpms go higher.

On the plus side, the coke that got spilled from my radio to the back of my center console had been cleaned up, but the middle climate control knob was still sticky. It's not anymore :) My car got to sit in the drive for a day with the windows down to air out and dry a bit (dad was home to roll them up if it started raining). I haven't tried the radio yet but I'm a bit nervous about that one. Push comes to shove though, I can deal with getting a new radio if I have to. I liked mine but wasn't strongly attached or anything. The carpets are still damp but the seats are fine.

I'd been meaning to get my car detailed anyway because of all the dog hair from a recent car ride with the puppies. I love my car but driving it while it smells damp and has no radio sucks. Oh well. :)

Ouch.

If you get chance, leave it in the sun with all the doors (including the boot) open to let fresh air in the try and get rid of the moisture, if that's not feasible leave it in a garage with all the windows open and get a dehumidifier.

It got to sit out for a whole day and I've been keeping the windows down whenever I drive so it doesn't smell so damp. Over all the car is mostly dryer, but still smells damp.

Update: My radio is fine except for the up arrow which is only used for adjusting stuff like the fade/balance, treble/bass and the clock really. We found this out the hard way and now all the sound is coming out of the left side. At least the radio works though! I was worried I had shorted out my speaker.

I have the same luck. Whenever I drive either of my cars anywhere on a hot day, and then park, I have to think "Is there a chance of rain?". I really don't watch the weather forecasts anymore only because I hardly watch tv. But on more than a dozen different occasions, I have left my windows down or the sunroof open, and then it rains, even when it was cloudless only a few hours prior.

I did that once at work when I was still in Store1. We had one of those short summer downpours, and then it got all sunny again. But when I left work I had to leave the car open for a little bit and let some of the humidity out. Luckily I only lived about 2 miles away and only the passenger seat got wet.
