OK, this may seem sucky to some people, but it really was getting on my nerves. -.- I had my windows open, as it's pretty warm out there, and the next door neighbours' kids were in their garden. Now, I don't object to children noises of the regular kind; giggling, chattering, general playing noises. However, their little girl started to shriek continously, only breaking off to breathe. It was rather rememnicient of someone being murdered. I put up with it for a while, before going out and shouting over the fence, "Shut the :censored: up!" This worked. I also heard the child's mother telling her off. XD Like I said, I have nothing against normal child noises, but prolonged screeching or bellowing is something else entirely. I get enough of that at work without having to put up with it at home, too.

You got me beat on that one Lace. I have an elderly next door neighbor who has a chihuahua and that damn dog barks at every little thing that passes by. :hairpull:

That seems to be a trend nowadays, for kids to constantly shriek at the tops of their lungs. I have no idea why. It is really irritating, especially if you have sensitive hearing to begin with.

At least the Sonic Screamer was outdoors; it's even worse when it's indoors, and echoing off the walls. And the parents just think it's so gosh-darned cute.

Back when I worked at the pet supply store, one frequent customer would bring his Miniature Schnauzer in and encourage it to bark constantly. And was that dog ever shrill! Normally I love dogs, but that one...no. I always had a ferocious headache after I got done dealing with that idiot customer.

My new neighbor has some small, shrill, spastic dog that loves to freak out very loudly all the time.

One of my next-door neighbours babysits her two grandkids while their parents work. The girl is 5 and the boy is 3. I have discovered that this little boy cannot communicate unless he is screaming. Since they're usually outside, I work from home and hate kids like most people hate mosquitos, this makes me want to tear my ears off.

Argh! I want to build a child-free community... Or go live on some little island somewhere.

I am getting to enjoy construction crew tearing out cement up and down the block . . .
Which means the delightful constant pounding . . .oh and lets add in that one of the three office dogs likes to bark if he sees you outside and doesn't think you belong

I finally got new windows not that long ago- it has helped with not hearing the across the ally neighbor kids that would scream for minutes on end outside from noon - 3 am.

Sometimes I really feel tempted to chuck a bucket of water over the fence. -.- If I wouldn't get done for wasting police time, I'd file a report that someone was being murdered next door every time I heard banshee child at it.

People phone us for a hell of a lot less, you obviously didn't hear about the chap who rang in about the moon...

Indeed it would, I've gone to a job where the following happened.

Person A installed security light
Person B complained to Person A that said light shone into the windows
Person A then ripped the light from the wall and threw it to the ground and broke it, at no time threatening or saying anything to Person B
Person B then rang in and complained

I had an interesting time with that one.

I've almost completely lost my hearing thanks to kids like that (my longest-held job was at a daycare center). Aside from the drawbacks of not being able to hear anything softer than an indoor-speaking voice (I seriously can't hear people speaking to me if they don't catch my attention first, and face me while talking to me), it does have the benefit of my being able to tune out certain things.

Like more kids screaming.

"That's not a dog, that's a barking Beanie Baby, that's what THAT is."

I heart Jeff Dunham.

My sister had a miniature Doberman Pincher for a while. Good Gourd, that dog was neurotic.

as an co-owner of a "toy" size dog -
I have to say I like the Barking Beanie comment.

Found out part of the reason the jack hammer sound was so bad yesterday. Not only is street being torn up - one of the neighbors is getting a new circle drive. So their existing was being taken out. Double your pleasure double your Jack Hammer - oy vey my ears.
