today was one of those days that make you want to crawl back into bed and weep for the sake of the half decent humans left in the world...(all 5 of us...you know...the voices in my head....)
Today....I had to show up late because manager M (whom is VERY cool and I love to death), wanted me to witness a termniation of an employee whiom was stealing several hundred dollars worth of money, and just NOT doing her job. That goes well.....she blows up, and storms out of the store, then when her boyfriend shows up, they burn rubber out of the parking lot. M later told me that, coirker had asked to borrow $5, then when M was at bank making deposit, and comes back $5 is missing from the cash drawer (where we get spare change and bills from)....co irker claims she miscounted....
Opening goes well enough....only about 50 calls to make to various customers for various reasons. Then while making a call and dealing with a polite customer, DM walks in with a whole fricking forest shoved up where the sun don't shine ><
DM looks me...looks at me on phone (company phone btw...not personal phone), looks at the customer waiting very patiently for me to finish (not even an SC), smirks and goes into the back to attack...I mean talk with M.
15 minutes later, customer is happily out the door, and phone calls are finished...and M walks up and says to me that she got yelled at since I didn't greet DM when he came in the door....
start to a horribly long day that goes down hill from there....
now...DM I hate...hes pompus, arrogent, refuses to do anything that isn't by the book, and never worked a lowly position a day in his life....looks at me sorting movies to be shelved and says "oh good your not doing anything, go count the gallery movies that are spined, and when your done help me move the shelves."
sure...let me just put down the 23 movies I just checked in and jump to your bidding....because obviously I'm not doing anything! ><
now...the moving of the shelves....these are not very heavy...and are infact made considerably easy to move around since they have wheels on the bottom...but his logic is SEVERELY lacking in the method of placing them in "a more pleasing arrangement, and able to see easily from the front counter"
hey DM were you out sick the days they taught you the alphabet? and sick the same day they passed out FREE common sense? Who here knows that S comes BEFORE W? anyone? anyone?
there was a perfectly valid reason that we had the shelves the way they were....they covered up the large metal poles the support the roof so SCs and EWs, don't run into them and cry lawsuit to get free stuff!
Then when that is all said and done...DM deciedes to rearrange the front counter...."so that people are forced to walk about rather then just cut in front of the counter and right back out"
ANOTHER genious move....you just made it virtually impossible for people to even LEAVE from the front counter without running into 4 movie displays, 2 boxes of candy and the coke cooler >< I get smart and speak up at that point and point out the flawed logic of this arrangement, and....GASP :eek: HE ACTUALLY LISTENS!! Shame he can't do it for all the OTHER stupid changes hes pulled already....
I heard him over talking about taking all the games, out of the clear locks (big plastic boxes that go around the game so people can't just up and take them.) and put them on the shelves with only little dinky plastic locks that a 4year old could get into...."because it shows that we trust people...and we don't treat everyone like a shop lifter..." yep no ones a shop lifter.....thats why we contantly find empty DVD cases, and video games gone missing.
Apperently there is a company policy that states that you cannot have a rolling shelf behind the counter, since it attracts thieves...no ones a shop lifter, but we want to encourage thieves....yeah....that shelf is simply there to put movies on so that we can put them there to organize and shelve easier.
interesting thing happened though....apperently sometime during the day...someone stole my manager's lisence plate....the manager I like...so yes I'm actually sad.:cry:
Added gem....over heard again between DM and M.....
M: you know DM...if you stopped putting us on 5 day rentals our sales would pick back up...we've lost so many customers because of this...and its affecting our sales.
DM: nonsense other stores are doing better since they moved to 5 day rentals! Besides...we've just put out more advertising to get new fresh customers!
um....WOW....love the logic there wouldn't you say? who cares about the loyal customers that stayed with us through a bankruptcy, and 3 moves...We can get NEW ones!!!
