Lately, the way my cat wakes me up is to lean against the weather button on my alarm clock which makes a static sound when it gets turned on (most of the time). Anyone else have pets that have interesting ways of waking them up?

I love having a nap....unfortunately my pooch doesn't share this. He waits until I'm just asleep enough to be comfortable then touches his face to mine. He will give a swift sloppy kiss too if I haven't moved before then.

My younger cat, Sweetie will sometimes decide she needs attention while I'm asleep and will dig at the covers trying to find my hand, so I can pet her...

There's a reason Baby sleeps in the garage.....we know if she's let free at night, she'll try to kill everyone. But my parents cover that up and excused it with "They'll both sleep out there at night in case they need to use the catbox."

Anyway, one night two winters ago, I had come home sick around 2:00 am or so, not wanting to drive all the way back home, opting instead to stay at my parents' because they are less than 3 miles from the factory.

I laid down on the couch and Mom tucked me in and gave me the heating pad, and I was JUST about to nod off when I heard vicious hissing and meowing.

And then.......CRASH!

Then some more hissing.

The cats were having a rumble.

They do this constantly, although most of the time in the living room or somewhere more open and without anything to break.

That was wonderful. Dad was not happy the next morning when he saw what they broke.

Jade - the big black idiot cat had it down to an art.

He was fat enough that when he got a good purr on, you'd feel it.

If I didn't wake up with the first seismic purrs, he would tap the side of my nose to wake me up and as soon as he saw the eyes open, then came the face rubs.

He learned that tapping the nose was the safe way to wake me up. He tried, once, to wake me up by licking the inside of my ear once....he found himself flying across the room in a hurry.

One of my fur-babies reaches under the door and paws at the door stopper (which is attached to the door itself, not the wall). It makes this really obnoxious sproing noise over and over, until we yell at him to stop or open the door. Kind of cute that he figured it out, though.

Several years ago, we had a thunderstorm threatening to 86 our electricity. All of our alarm clocks were electric and I needed to get up at 6:00 AM. I half-jokingly asked our cat Red to wake me up at 6:00.

The next morning, I felt him nuzzling me and purring loudly. I looked at the clock, and it read 5:59. :) Smart cat!

My [last] cat used to paw my hair, then try to bite my ear.

Ginja (my late cocker spaniel) used to tap me with her paw in the morning. Kinda like a "hey you, time to walk me!" :)

No not really. Mine just plays hide and seek so I have to hunt throught the bed clothes for her each morning. Thought I'd lost her yesterday but she was hiding between two pillows at the head of the bed

Pablo likes to sleep in even more than I do, so he doesn't try to wake you up. When he does, it's because he has to pee or wants a drink, in which case he runs around the bed, looking over the sides, and whining.

Stripes tries to open the door. We have lever-type doorknobs in my parents' house, and he tries to grab it. He succeeded twice one morning last year, but as far as I know he hasn't done it since. He also can meow quite loudly when he wants to. Stars is very quiet. I've never had her wake me up but if she wanted to she'd probably go for the tap on the shoulder and face nuzzle.

Queen Pudge (the bunny with attitude in my avatar) slept under our bed. She would come in at night after we'd gone to bed and thump until we said 'Goodnight Pudge'. In the morning if we slept in or the door was closed all the way, Pudge would thump, progressively louder, until someone got up, let her out, and fed her. She could make the whole bed shake if she tried...

My cat will nudge my face, until I wake up. If that fails she will lick my hand, ear or nose.

Yes I know it is 5 am and you want food, no you will wait until later.

Bear (he's a small dog...11" and 15lbs.) walks on me or attacks me with kisses the moment I stir in bed. Sometimes I have to cover my head so he doesn't constantly barrage me with kisses on my face (especially on my eyelids). Same with SO and when Bear was a puppy, he used wake us up at 4 or 5am so we could play with him.

Tootles (the cat) likes to bang doors. She'll reach her paw under the door and somehow gets a good enough grip on it to ram it back and forth. If I don't lock my door sometimes she slams it back and forth hard enough to make the door open (it's an older house). She apparently also likes to run across my parents' faces while they sleep.

Mara and Jenna (the dogs) will shove their noses in my face if I don't turn so my back is to the room. I wouldn't horribly mind but it startles me when it's not expected and Mara is kind of slimy

My cat Shug likes to run back and forth through my room, leaping onto the bed, running over my torso, jumping off the bed and running to the other side of the room, when he wants to be fed. He will do this repeatedly until I wake up.

Fizz has that insane Maine Coone chirp instead of a meow, so when he wants outside he will begin complaining in his high pitched chirp while sitting in front of the sliding glass door and looking at me expectantly. He gets louder and shriller the longer I ignore him, but eventually he gives up and will climb up above the cupboards above the fridge where I can't reach him to pout.

...and I thought my kitties were goofy :D

Lately though, I've had at least one of them in bed with me. They're not allowed in my bedroom, yet they always find a way in. Even with a 4-foot gate across the door, which they can easily clear, they're unstoppable. It's pretty annoying to be sound asleep at 3am, only to hear Meowwww and find someone sniffing my face.

Sally would simply curl up and go to sleep. Baxter, on the other hand...would spend at least an hour sniffing the sheets, pawing at my face, and meowing. Not exactly what I need at 3am, so I usually chase him out :p

My mother used to send my cat Tiger to wake me up, she would jump up on my chest and lightly tap me on the cheek, once I was awake the mad purring would start and she'd lick my nose.

Once I was truly awake she'd go downstairs and stare at mum as if to say " Ok, she's up now, where's my food?"

I miss her

*Cackles*

KC was FUN to use as a wake-up clock. Since she needed out every morning and generally she got either EQ or me up (Sniffles, HUFFS, whines) early in the morning. After she did her business, we'd send her in to either tackle-attack the Other Twin (depending on who got up first) or, even better, Mom and Dad. That was massively funny.

Really fun was how a 60 pound pooch could take up an entire California King size waterbed.

Oh geeze, the whine KC did haunts my sleep! The other day I dreamt it and told Xander to let the dog out (which is funny because we don't have a dog. Yet)

My cat tried one time to go overboard in waking me up. (note, he slept on a pillow near my head or arched over my head if the pillow wasn't there)

1. Paw at my shoulder mewing silently
2. Hop on whatever was on top and knead the surface (usually my back, felt good:D)
3. Pad at my cheek or nose.
4. Get close to my ear and meow loudly.

He only did number 4 once. Apparently he's not too fond of air travel.

1. my late sweety Madkitty would do that paw kneading on the top of my head soon as it got light out.

2. my late Husky Max would jump on the bed and do that cute pushing thing with both front paws till we got up.

3. This isn't a wake me up thing but a pet me thing. My current best kitty ever, Indy. When I am on the computer and he wants pet he will tap me on my arm over and over till I turn to pet him. Problem is my office squeaks very loud and so when I turn he gets scared of the squeak and runs off. Then about 5 mins later he is back to tapping me. This goes on for hours sometimes.
