I had a bout of pneumonia at the start of the year that left me borderline unconscious and on the verge of the emergency room for a week. I didn't completely recover for almost two months.

...turns out I didn't "completely recover" at all. Apparently I got left with some long-term damage to the lungs that left them fairly weak. And now, goodie of goodies, a cold I had caught has apparently restarted the whole cornucopia of symptoms back up again.

Chest pain? Check.
Exhaustion? Check.
Fever, pain? Check.
Hacking up green shit? Check.
Difficulty breathing? Check.
Nasty-ass taste constantly in mouth? Check.

Why yes, I do believe that's referred to as the beginning of a "relapse" ladies and gentlemen.

Guess what, lungs, as soon as I get home from work, I'm going to eat a shitload of vitamins, drink as much fruit juice as I can, sleep for the next three days, and in general DROWN YOU IN GOOD THINGS. I WILL be back at work completely healthy on Tuesday and you will LIKE IT. And you know what else? After this, we're going to start working on building you back up and this will NOT be happening again, you got it MAGGOTS!! /drill sergeant voice

(Aside from that, if ya'll don't hear from me for a while, don't worry, I'm probably just asleep ;) It's actually better that you don't hear from me, since I have friends who have explicit instructions to inform all my online connections if I'm somehow severely incapacitated. So no news is good news!)

I've had bronchitis twice, pretty bad... it's always horrible when you instantly know that taste that comes with a nasty chest cold/bronchitis/pneumonia.. ugh!

I've seen what prolonged pneumonia can do.. had a roommate who refused to go to a doctor, even though he was coughing so hard he was constantly throwing up from it, and literally could not eat anything. For two weeks. He was already a stick, and ended up looking like an anemic skeleton. *shudder*

Doctors are good. Well, some are. *sends care package of cough drops, albuterol, antibiotics, tea, tissues, soup and distracting movies*

Yes, please do go to a doctor, tell him/her what happened last time and what's happening now. Don't gamble with your health.

Make sure the juice you drink is the real stuff, not the stuff with addes crap you can't pronounce (Northland's brand is really good for that, whereas OceanSpray... read the lable. it's not even real juice!).

Then take Vitamin C tablets (the rosehips ones are good to take and cheap as dirt)

Ecchanacia with Goldenseal (helps with the immune system)

Plenty of hot showers to help relieve the stuffy head and the phlemy cough.

Vic's Vaporub is really really nice. Just put a small bit under your nose (it's common for Mom's to smear it on your child's chest, but I always hated how my jammie shirts always stuck to it).

I hate getting sick but I hate doctor's more! But for this? if your fever is above 104 degrees I would go to a doctor too.

I is living! Kind of. Spending three nights sleeping in an upright position on the couch wasn't the best thing I ever did for my back, but oh well.

My nose is still running and I'm still coughing up...something once in a while, but it's neither the green mess from last time or the ever-fun "insulation foam pink" variety, so that's a definite plus. The inside of my ear itches like a mad bastard, though, I'm not sure what that's all about.

Good news: I am okay to start working out again as soon as I feel up to it...lung damage is not permanent yay.

Bad news: With the diminished lung capacity, I'm going to be basically starting over at trying to get them up to shape again. Fucknugget. So much for my seven minute mile.

Oh well. Small price to pay for continued health. Now if I could just figure out how to get a Q-tip all the way to my brain and scratch the itchy parts, I'd be so much happier  Now to work!
