As of next month when I get my tax back I will be enrolling in a course to get my certificate 3 in aged care, I've been wanting to do this for the last 5 years but just haven't had the money to do the course, now that I do have the money i'm going to do this.

I have told my family about what I want to do, my father thinks it's a great idea and I would make a great nurse.

My mother on the other hand has a serious brain to mouth filter malfunction and said to me that she didn't think it was a good idea because I am not smart enough :jawdrop: Thanks for the vote of confidence mum.

My grandfather has also offered to pay part of my tuition which is such a nice gesture, he turns 90 next week, i'm heading up for his party.

My grandmother is in hospice care and has been for the past 4 years after suffering a stroke 9 years ago, she is part of my decision to pursue this career.

So wish me luck, it's going to be hard work but i'm looking forward to it.

That's great that you are going to follow your dream, and it's definitly a career path that is in desperate need of more qualified staff (in Australia anyway, from what i've heard/read on the news e.t.c)

As for your mum telling you that you are not smart enough? Well lets just say that were true (for argument's sake) THAT'S WHY YOU DO A COURSE ON IT - SO YOU LEARN. Don't let her discourage you - when you are working hard and being rewarded for your efforts that will be the most satisfying part - good luck!

You're a very strong person to want to do that. Kudos to you. *high five*

Congrats on making a decision! Thats usually the hardest part. If you feel a calling for something, go for it. Theres never enough caring people looking after our elders.

I would say just ignore your mom, but you probably like her or something...;)
