IS EPIC!
Got to see Nightwish with Sonata Arctica opening; by the end I was bruised, stiff, hoarse, deaf, and I could not have been more ecstatic! Sonata puts on a great performance (I just about screamed myself hoarse with their songs! :p) and are, of course, one hell of a band. From the shirts that I could see, it looked like a fair portion of the audience was there more for Sonata than Nightwish.
Not me, of course. Nightwish was, as always, beyond fantastic! I will admit I was surprised when they played "Come Cover Me," but Anette really nailed it, and getting to hear "7 Days to the Wolves" live was worth every penny I paid.
Oh, and Anette was blonde for the concert. Took about 5 seconds for me to adjust to that when my friend and I realized she looked very hot blonde. From what I can tell from the site, that's her natural color; metal singer or no, I hope she sticks with that! It really suits her.
For a nice touch of irony, since the concert was in Los Angeles, they closed with "Wish I Had an Angel;" an awesome way to get us audience members pumped up for their departure. In short, 10/10; I can't wait for them to come around again! Anette was promising they'd be back; I'll hold 'em to that ;)
A little bonus about the venue; the Wiltern has a retractable screen to which audience members can send text messages and pictures. There was a horde vs alliance war going on up there (which I'm somewhat proud to say I think I started ), not to mention quite a few internet memes and, randomly, bananas in pajamas. I chose not to think too hard about that one.
Oh, one more thing; Marco himself was standing outside the bus, right as I was passing by in the line! He'd moved along by the time I realized that actually was the Marco, but still, that was an awesome bonus. Nightwish rules!
