All the same I could use some good vibes, a prayer or the like. I had one of those heart stopping, make your color drain scares today.
I was on my way home from class, and was thinking about what to do for food. The building my class was in was across the main campus walkway from the Student Union, so I decided on a whim today to stop in and grab a bite at the Union which is something I haven't done for some time. As fate, luck, karma or whatever other force you might choose would have it I didn't have any cash on me so I tried to pay with my bank card. My card declined, so I had them run it again and it declined again. So I rushed right home and tried to log into my internet banking to see what was up and found I had been locked out. That when I felt that pukey gut wrenching fear that makes you just stop an say "oh shit." So I called my bank, as it turns out the fraud department had frozen all my accounts due to some suspicious activity that was run through a paint company in Kentucky. The person I spoke with said the transaction is consistent with fishing tactics where people try to run a card or combination of card numbers until it works. They said most likely they had gotten a portion of my card numbers and ran it until they got it to work.
So the bank froze my accounts for this. The good news is I managed to get everything reinstated and had the bank cancel my bank card which is the only form of electronic payment I use. Fortunately last year I signed up for a credit monitoring program that checks my credit reports for new activity on a monthly basis so if anything comes up that way I should be able to catch it early. I'm just praying and could use some good vibes or prayer or whatever you might choose that nothing further will come from this incident.
I just have that odd feeling like the big man upstairs must be watching out for me because it really was just a whim decision to eat at the Student Union today and if I hadn't run my card there I wouldn't have for awhile since I've been cutting back on my spending to save money.
