OK, I know there are a bunch of Stargate fans on this board. So maybe someone can clear something up for me.
(I am probably spelling all these names wrong by the way, forgive me)
In season 4 actor Peter Wingfield showed up as a Goa'uld host who had a Goa'uld named Tanith who was pretending to join the To'krah. The To'krah actually knew all along he was faking though. He ended up killing Teal'c's old girlfriend so Teal'c was after revenge but Tanith was slippery and wouldn't die and just kept showing up and bothering them into season 6.
The other day me and the husband watched an episode where Teal'c was offworld alone for most of it, and when he got back everyone asked how it went and he told them it went fine and Tanith was dead.
What?? It was kind of made into a big deal so I was eager to see how the situation played out. Is that it? Does Tanith never appear again? It seems kind of lame for the writers to end it like that but maybe Peter Wingfield couldn't come back for any more episodes. It's a disappointment though. :(

-SPOILERS!!!!-
At the start of the episode, The team is off world when Tanith ambushes them in an Al'Qesh (long range bomber) Teal'c uses a staff turret to hold him off for the team to escape. In the process, Teal'c trashes the cockpit and Tanith at the same time. Tealc jumped through the gate just before Tanith hit, destroying the gate. This had the effect of trapping Teal'c in between worlds, and the effort to get him back was the remainder of the episode.
So yes, that is the last appearance of Tanith in the series. It was actually a pretty cool part, if not terribly long. If you want one where the death was a total cop out, watch Babylon 5 when they're defending the station from EarthForce assault. That was actually pretty amusing.:D

ooh, Babylon 5 *goes off into a state of bliss*
I love B5
oh, and yeah, I think lordlundar explained the stargate question pretty well... now here's the better question... is Apaphos really dead... the never actually *show* him die, they show a situation which no one could survive... but Apaphos has survived those situations before...

I'm so sick of Apothos. Stupid sarcophagi
Thanks for the answers. I am mostly disappointed because I like Peter Wingfield a lot, but I would have gotten more satisfaction out of seeing Teal'c strangle him or something. Or even removing him and leaving the host intact (Peter Wingfield's too pretty to die :p).
The husband is the world's biggest B5 fan, so I'm sure he knows exactly what you're talking about, but I have only seen bits and pieces here and there. I watch Stargate the same way. ;)
Well, at least I wasn't the only one that thought Tanith was hot. I was disappointed when he died like that. However, that episode where he dies---called "48 hours"---is also when they introduce the character Rodney McKay (who is a main character now in Stargate: Atlantis). I still have a geek crush on him.

Heh heh, join the club. My friends and I have been watching a lot of "Highlander: The Series" and we're all big Peter Wingfield fans. ALL the women I know would take him over Duncan MacLeod any day!
He was also on the BBC Mystery series "Touching Evil".
Obsess much? Not me!

True, but later on they confirmed that the forces loyal to Apophis were assimilated into the forces of one of the System Lords.

You mean General Hague? Where the character was killed off screen because they couldn't get the actor again?

that just proves that he is no longer in power... doesn't mean that he's necessarily dead (I know that's an EXTREMELY week argument, because what Gou'ald is alive that doesn't find a way to get power).
Oh and I'm surprised that everyone over Tanith... I'd of taken the geek girls on the group to be the type to like Skaara (Alexis Cruz) or maybe Martuuf (JR Bourne) who at least pissed me off the way he died.
Oh and sense the girls get to ogle, so do I, Vala is HOT
I'm still in denial over Martouf's death! That one really pissed me off!
Though, they were going to bring Martouf back, but JR Bourne couldn't make the schedule, so they just had the character Lantash come back instead. And then they knocked him off too. Skaara...hum, he was too pretty for me.
Let's see...other hot men of Stargate that I want to see again...um, Malek, Dave Dixon, Camulus (was he ever confirmed dead?), Aldwin...I really liked Colonel Dave Dixon; I kinda want him brought back for Stargate: Universe or something. That would be amusing and fun. Then I'd watch the show.
