I'm really annoyed I've tried to find the news report on this but can't so I don't remember the name of the artist or exactly what was said...so yeah...I'm just giving my account of what I saw

OK...was watching the news a few nights ago and they had this report about an artist in America (I think) who takes photos of toddlers crying...now the way she takes these photos is to give the toddler a lolly-pop then she takes it away to make the child cry..and takes her pic...the point of the art is to show what our children would do if they knew what type of world they would be inheriting..full of pollution, death and extinction...

Now what the report was on, was how this is a form of child abuse..they had a few "experts" explain how the "lolly-pop is given in trust, and then by taking it away your abusing that trust and distressing the child...all in the name of art" They were saying that they couldn't believe that there were parents willing to allow someone to do that to their child, and that the parents are just as at fault as the artist!

What the report FAILS to explain is whether or not the lolly-pop is taken away and never returned to the child OR whether the lolly-pop is taken away, given back then taken away again tormenting the child into crying...it just says that the lolly-pop is taken away from the child to cause them to cry...that’s it...it also says that by taking the lolly-pop away the artist is causing the child distress...but doesn't say that this will damage the child permanently...

Personally I can't see how what the artist did was abuse...from what I got from the report, all the artist did was take the lollypop away once..then took the pic and gave the lolly-pop back, also, as far as I know (and I'm not a phycologist or and expert) the child was only caused distress for a small amount of time, and taking a lolly from a child once can't possibly cause permanent damage. This sort of report really trivialises abuse...there are people out there REALLY abusing their children, bashing them, tormenting them day in day out, verbally abusing them...and their winging about an artist who took a lolly-pop away from a child for a small amount of time ???

It also pretty much says that parents who take lollies away from children to punish them for behaving badly are abusing their children! COMMON PEOPLE! The photos are BEAUTIFAL...they really look wonderful...all these innocent babes crying and it just looks so surreal...just majestic...I don't know...I liked them...what do people think? do YOU think it's abuse taking candy from a baby...ONCE

Kid models aren't very expensive—not as expensive as monkeys, for example.

huh?

They're beautiful pics, by the way, and it's not like she had to do the lollypop trick with all the kids, some of them were in crying mode to begin with.
