I am so nervous. I have an interview tomorrow for a great job. I'd basically be customer service for the mail order pharmacy that is owned by a quite large (and, so I hear, quite good) insurance company.
Naturally, I get their benefits if I get the job. The pay starts at $11.50. I need this job so bad it's not even funny.

Good luck! I'm sure you'll do fine.
Edited: Just realized this is from yesterday. What I mean was...I'm sure you did fine.

I think it went well but I still have a wait to find out if I got the job or not. The woman convinced me to change my application from general customer service to pharmacy technician instead. They are doing pharmacy technician training, would pay for me to get my license again, and the woman about did a dance in her chair when she found out I'd bee a pharm tech about six years ago for a similar company.
Within 3 to 10 days (per her words) I'll post and let everyone know if I got the job! *runs around in circles*

Okay, so... I've got a temporary job (working for the local board of election doing data entry for their big election year crunch). I get 58 hours a week at decent pay... but, today, while at work I got a phone call at home. I call tomorrow and find out if I get the permanent job. They sounded very enthusiastic.
*crosses her fingers*
Good luck. I used to work in a mail-order pharmacy. It was a pretty good job, with great benefits.

I called today, as I said I would, and they gave me a preliminary job offer! Yay! I get the job pending my background check!

Fantastic, well done Heksubah ! Without wishing to sound mercenary, will you earn more as a pharmacy tech?

Originally they told me I would, but then it turns out I won't. The thing is, as a pharmacy tech there's better advancement and it's a much better job to have anyways. In addition, they pay for my training and licensing. (The CS job was $11.50/hr. This is $11/hr)
On that note... I GOT THE JOB! *faints dead away*
Because I got the job, and since it's 45 minutes away and my car is fried, I also get a new car. My mother is lending me money and assisting me. I'll either get a 2007 Ford Focus or a 2007 Saturn Ion. It will be my first brand spanking new car ever. Anyone have opinions on either of them? I get it Saturday.

I am so frustrated.
Okay, so the company told me they'd contact me once my background check and criminal check had gone through. Right, I got an email congratulating me on getting the job and offering 401k information, a list of ID needed to bring so I can fill my I9 forms, and information about some of their benefits. It flat out said I'd gotten the job so I quit my temp job the next day (Friday) so I could be ready for starting my training on Monday.
I come home from work on Friday and find out that I have a voicemail. It basically said, "Hello. This is so and so calling to let you know that your criminal check didn't come in today. We were supposed to have it in by today and since it has not arrived you should not go to training Monday." They continued on saying that it could come in this weekend and they'd be checking and would call if it did, but unless they call I am not to show up Monday.
*headdesk*
I'm missing out on $200 in overtime because I quit. I might miss out on more work because I may not be able to start on Monday. There is no bounds to my frustration right now. In addition to all of this, now I don't get my car until I find out.
If I can't start on Monday I -should- be able to get my temporary job back. They were sad that I was leaving since I was one of their fastest, most accurate employees and kept telling me that on Friday. I really don't want to go back, though, simply because I need this permanent job.
*sighs and heads back to bed and hopes for a phone call from the HR people*
Ugh those background checks can take FOREVER. I wouldn't worry about it too much, I know it'll be fine, it's just a boring waiting game.
But on the getting a job note, I'm SO happy for you!!! So many great things are happening for you lately. I hope your health is continuing to do better, and I wish you even more good luck in the future!
As far as cars go, I've heard good things about both that you were looking at! So I suppose see which has better gas milage! :p
Congrats again, and don't worry! It's frusterating, but it will pass!

I got the job.
Pardon me, but when I'm not about to burst into hysterical tears I'll explain why I'm actually upset after hearing that news.

What's up, Heksubah? What's happened to change your feelings about the job?
Oh no what's happened????

Oy vey. Okay, I'm not upset any longer. I've had a few days to settle down. The reason I was upset after hearing the news was not because I got the job. At the same time, I wasn't exactly excited when I found out. After all the yoyoing (there was another instance of them sending me news that I had the job and then saying, no, that wasn't my final offer later on) my thoughts were more like... "It's about time!"
The two weeks leading up to the final offer were emotional turmoil. I really hope the games they played with me aren't a sign of what working for them will be like. If it's any indication then I need to run back to my temp job and plea with my supervisors there to hire me permanently (They love me there! Really! I've never had a job tell me so often that I'm a great employee. One of the supervisors thanked me for my hard work and dedication, wished me luck with my new job, and then insisted on shaking my hand as I clocked out yesterday for the last time).
When they said I had the job I thought the mind games were over with, but then my mother started acting all doubtful and second guessing her thoughts on getting me my new car. *headdesk* So with my stress and my rather frazzled mental state I nearly had a collapse. It was kinda the final straw. Finally she settled down and stopped acting like I would get no car (I have to get one to get this job. My car is dying and the job is a 45 minute drive away when conditions are ideal). Her story changed to "I just want you to shop around, get a better idea rather than beelining to one vehicle." Yeah. Right. And the two weeks that I was waiting on the offer and kept looking at different cars... that wasn't shopping around? Oh well.
I've test driven the car I want twice now. I will test drive a Saturn Ion today and maybe another compact car (If I see one that catches my eye). The Ford Focus has had a few too many factory recalls to make me feel safe. The car I have now is a Ford and it's never really done me right. The car I am 99.9% certain about is a Scion xB. It looks like a box on wheels. (http://www.scion.com) The outside is weird, but the inside is a dream. It's a bit higher than I wanted to go, but wow... nice car. And Scion is a Toyota company. That means the car, while more expensive, is better quality and will hold it's value much better. I want, I want, I want. I may have one in a gorgeous blue today. Mmm. (Watch out, Myra. If I have nice wheels I may have an excuse to randomly drive up your way and say hello. *looks innocent*)
So that's why I was a bit fried the other day. I posted that right after my mother yoinked her offer out from under me only to settle it back under my feet later on in an unsure manner. I do know that I WILL have a car today. One way or another, I have to have a vehicle before Monday since... I GOT THE JOB!
YAAAAAAAAY! Phew, you scared me for a minute there! And you are most certainly welcome to come by sometime! I am in North KC Tuesday through Friday, and we could do lunch! ;)
Congrats on the new car too! Those are nice cars. The husband likes those cars a lot.
Congrats again!!!! SO happy for you!!!!! :grats::grats:

I'm actually not far from North KC. I moved last December, so I'm over in Parkville, about two miles (if that) from 29 and 45.
I got the car! Mmm, salsa red! *runs around happily*

I will test drive a Saturn Ion today
My $0.02 - I drive a Saturn Vue and know people who've owned Saturn cars, and all report nothing but good things. Before that, I was a diehard Toyota driver and recommend trying out a Corolla or Camry if these are in your price/want range.
And, with that administrative crap out of the way.....CONGRATULATIONS on the new job!! :)

It must be a ritual with me. Whenever I get a new vehicle something happens to it.
Car #1 (Mitsubishi Mirage, Nicknamed: Mitsu-bitch-y): Drove it off a miniature cliff in a rain storm. No damage other than a slightly scraped transmission pan.
Car #2 (Toyota Corolla, Nicknamed: The Deer-Splat Mobile): It died on the highway a day after I bought it.
Car #3 (Ford Taurus SE, didn't have it long enough for a nickname): Overheated and fried itself on the highway within three days of purchase. Repairs were so massively needed that the seller (an auctioneer guy) traded it for another one, which was...
Car #4 (Ford Taurus LX, Nicknamed: The Beast): Had battery and brake issues causing it to die after purchase. Upon towing I learned that it's frame was badly bent and disguised.
Car #5 (Scion xB, no nickname yet): Flat tire! AGH! And I start my new job which is nearly an hour drive away tomorrow.

Dont know how i missed this thread, can i sneak in at the back to say - Well done on the job!!!
New job, new car....:grats: :bounce:
Ugh! Car issues are no fun. Usually time consuming, and expensive as all hell. Good luck with the car issues, and the new job!
Yeah I am off Prairie View Road in what's actually considered Platte Woods, although our mailing address says Kansas City. We're just maybe a mile South of Barry Road and the Zona Rosa Hell. (Whoever designed that mess must've been insane. I went in there ONCE and left feeling ready for a nervous breakdown! :runaway: )
Anywho, GOOD LUCk again!

Near LC's?
Literally next to LC's. My strip mall is next to that parking lot. I walk over there sometimes, or to the Sunfresh grocery store for lunch.
LC's is THE BOMB, by the way. :p
