Don't ask me how this even happened . . . but there's been a lot going on in the last few weeks, apart from what I've been dealing with at home.

It started when my mom called to check on the brother of a friend (her friend Penny, the one who's always poormouthing when she's got more money than Zeus.) Well, he stopped by a day or two later and we met briefly. Seemed like a nice fella, definitely nothing like Penny (who's rather reserved and at times severe.)

A week later, Mom decided we should drop in on him. He lives about 25 minutes from us in an adjoining county. Next thing I knew, he was asking me out.

Now I hadn't been on a date in quite awhile. Last time was with Genie last summer, but he's more of a friend than anything (nothing romantic had developed at all.) Before I could stop myself, I said okay.

That was about 2 months ago and we've been together ever since. About a month ago, I started spending nights at his home and now it's become I'm at his home 5 nights/week and Mom's 2. Before I knew it, I had some of my clothes over there, and the makeup bag.

He's a LOT older than myself (I'm 37 now.) He's in his 70's and divorced. Has 2 kids (one daughter, who lives about 40 minutes away and a son out of state who doesn't associate w/him. Long story there.) Besides Penny, there's 2 other sisters (one near W-S and one in Florida) and a SIL back in West Virginia (his brother died last year.) There's also a number of neices and nephews and he has 5 grandkids now (youngest one is almost a month old but it's doubful he'll get to see that one, as well as the older one by his son.)

Despite the obvious difference in age, we get along great. He's crazier than a bedbug (and kinda cute too.) He retired back in the mid 80's (he was a railroad engineer) and at one time had a tanning salon (which he sold back in the late 80's or early 90's b/c his kids didn't care to take it over.) He does okay.;)

And to top it off, he's spoiling me to death. I'm still trying to get used to having someone around who brings me coffee and breakfast in bed. Now he's trying to get my Mom to do that when I'm there, but she's not going for it.

Even more shocking was just yesterday when we had another long talk about my dad (they haven't met yet and if my Bug has his way, they won't as he doesn't like what he's heard about dear old Dad and Stepdrac) and was concerned about what would happen w/my brother should something happen to Mom. Although I would get guardianship (we need to get the paperwork done soon so that Mom and I have joint guardianship so there's no issue once something happens) he's concerned that I may not be able to look after him by myself. He's offered to have my brother come live w/us if he's still around and we're still together (and short of both Robert Vaughn and David McCallum showing up to kidnap me off the doorstep, I'm not going anywhere )

He and my brother get along great. My mom thinks he's awesome. I'm crazy about him and it's obvious he's fallen for me already (but then, I'm such a sweet Goddess that men can't help but fall over their feet for me. )

So in a nutshell, I'm using my computer here at Mom's during the weekdays after work, then I go home (w/the Bug) around 5. I'll eventually have Daphne w/me and then I'll be able to get online while I'm there as well.

I'm not used to being this deliriously happy . . . just don't wake me.;)

DG, first off Congrats!

Second to naysayers about your age difference, if he makes you happy and you love him then so be it. This is about your happiness. Congrats again. :)

I'm so silly. I misread the title as "...DGoddess is a man!" I got all the way through the post wondering when she was going to reveal that someone thought she was a man when she isn't. Then she didn't. So I reread the title. I'd prefer a headsmacking smilie but will settle for this. :headdesk:

Anyway, :grats: on catching a good guy. If you find another one who will tolerate the occasional episode of dingbattedness, please send him my way.
