curious me i decided to upgrade my op system from windows XP to Vista RC1 ultimate. looking over the system specs i decided i was capable to run it, the other day i downloaded it and had a few problems trying to burn it to the DVD, turns out i was buring it as a data file instead of buring the image directley to the disc.

I spent the last week and a half backing up all my inortant programs and files, and this morning after work i loaded up the DVD and switched op systems. so far its pretty impressive, minus a few annoying but major issues i have, the first is it wont regionise my wireless network card, even after removing the card from the tower and re-instaling the drivers, and its not showing any sound card. The sound card is one of those built in to the motherboard types.

Once i figure out those issues i think ill be ok. I can connect to the internet if i plug my DSL line directly into my PC. which i decided to do as i am addicted to this site and the internet.

Nice, keep me updated on any bugs you find. I haven't made the decision yet to upgrade. Is it true that Vista does not allow direct access to the file system?

The latest word on Vista anti-pirate software. Is that it will "restrict" almost everything but web browsing for 1 hour if it thinks your copy is not legal.

Probably will be broken in less than a week, but still I don't see how they're planning to do this. Every game company has tried some kind of hard-core anti-pirating software only to watch it fall apart.

If you want to play around with Vista, but aren't ready to give up XP, you can always dual-boot by creating a ~10GB partition and installing on that, or by just installing another hard drive and using the whole thing for Vista.

Even better would be installing VMWare Workstation (www.vmware.com) and then making a Vista virtual machine. There are some tricks to getting RC1 to install, but if you decide to go through with it you can PM me to find out what they are. The good thing about VMWare is that your wireless card will work fine since it creates what is probably most easily described as a "software router" that allows it to share your wireless connection with XP.
