Since it's getting close to Halloween time, I've been thinking about what I am going to dress up as... I found a very cute costume of the Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland and two of my friends were going to dress up with me, one as the Queen of Hearts and the other as the Mad Hatter. Unfortunately, they bailed on me :(

What are the rest of you going to be for Halloween?

No-one I know is having a Halloween party this year. So I'm not going as anything.

I love your Cheshire Cat idea though. On a related note, a few years ago a friend held a Mad Hatter's Tea Party, with too many seats and lots of teapots and cakes with "eat me" iced on them. Everyone had to come as a character from Alice and it was widely assumed I would be the Red Queen - so I went as an oyster. :D

I'm contemplating dressing as a scarecrow this year- I was a witch last year, but I have to keep it to simple costumes I can move and teach in, since Halloween is a school day for us. We'll be doing dress-up fun with the kids and a costume parade. Now I juat have to convince my daughter to settle on one costume, or at least two that I can combine. (She was a sheep princess last year- picture a little sheep wearing a crown)

I probably won't. But I remember from back in high school, my grade 11 Math teacher dressed as a woman. It was actually pretty gross. Reminded me of Sally from Third Rock From the Sun.

I'm in college, so halloween = feel free to dress like a slut day. I don't participate in that haha (anyone else think wearing the equivalent of a string bikini to class is inappropriate? yeah...me too).

I live across the street from Busch Gardens Tampa, so we're gonna go to Howl-O-Scream. They don't allow costumes there, so I guess I'll just be adorable little me!

I'm going to be the same thing as last year since this is my first year in college and no one here saw me last year. I'm going to be a marine again. I liked it. I felt bad cause I was going around with friends and at some places, the clerks would try to give me deals on stuff they really shouldn't. I, being the stereotypical CS member, could not take advantage of them and told them it was just my costume for the year, but I did thank them for supporting the people in the military.

I'm still trying to decide what I'm going to wear. I'll be at work so obviously I can't go TOO horrible (*sighs, tosses out bloody butcher apron*), but I don't know what I want to be. I'm thinking Rey Mysterio's mask would be a bit rough to wear for a 9-hour day...

I want to be a pirate. I found something I could wear on my head. I just need to find the rest of the costume. My friend is having a Halloween party. She was originally going to go to work as "The Walmart Avenger." She changed her mind. I told her that we should both go to kendo practice dressed like pirates.

Hubby and I will probably use our hippie costumes again this year (we're in the middle of moving and everything else is in storage). I'm going to have to send last year's pic to gbm to post in the pics section. :)

Hey! That's what I was going as! *pouts*

I'd like to go as Lara Croft... but I'm totally broke and have 2 birthdays to buy for as well. So, maybe I'll go as a Blockbuster employee.

Tifa Lockhart

for the non-gamers that would be a character from Final Fantasy VII-though I'm wearing the costume from advent children(the movie).

it was a 3 way tie between Kadaj, Sephiroth, or Tifa the voters said I looked too much like Tifa to be anything else.

I'm going to be a hair-metal star.

All I need is a blond long-hair rocker wig (available at my store) and an old Iron Maiden shirt I got at a thrift store.

Eyegore from Young Frankenstein.

I've even got most of the lines down pat, with my favorites being:

Werewolf....

Werewolf?

There wolf. There castle.

Why are you talking like that?

I thought you wanted to...

Wait master. It might be dangerous. You go first!

My friend is having a Halloween party. She was originally going to go to work as "The Walmart Avenger."

She could go as a greeter, and when the door gets answered, scream 'welcome to walmart!'.

Anyone who reads the machall comic will (hopefully) understand.

A few people at work are going to be pirates, and they asked if I wanted to be included. I said yes, but now, I don't know if I'll have the time for find a costume or have one made.

But then, Halloween is on a Tuesday this year, and Tuesday is supposed to be one of my off days...

Next year, me and one of my guys are going to be Violent J and Shaggy from ICP. :D

I haven't decided yet, but I guess I should, since my best friend is having her third annual Halloween party in less than 3 weeks.

Last year, I joked around with her about how I was going to go as a nudist. Her reply, "Go ahead!" I keep forgetting she's a former stripper, so not much shocks her.

Last year, my ex-bf and I were going to a halloween party. Mom asked what we were going as, and without skipping a beat, I looked her dead in the eye and said "pornstars". Her response? ...how are you going to do that?

I glance at my ex, and we both look at her, smile, and say 'go naked!'

It took her a second to figure out that we weren't serious, and we pulled that simply to get her riled up.

As far as this year? I have no idea. I have class from 930a-9pm on Halloween, so....something tells me dressing up isn't gonna fly.

Salute to a fellow cosplayer!

And yeah, $110 for a Tifa Lockheart AC version is really good. I went as Rufus to Comic-Con in San Diego and am working on my Sephiroth outfit.

As for myself, I shall be going as Pyramid Head from the Silent Hill movie.

Coworker at the call center gig where I worked last Halloween came to work dressed as a mime. She had done the whole thing--striped shirt, beret, white makeup and gloves. Unfortunately for her, she was one of the very few to do anything for the holiday--no one else had gone to as much trouble. So she decided to draft me, and painted my face while we were on break. I'm not that into Halloween, but she was a friend (that I was kind of attracted to) and she was insistent. Unfortunately for me, looking like a mime didn't get me out of having to talk to idiots on the phone all day long.

She did have someone take a photo--two mimes, her in black, me in a sweater vest and corduroy pants. If I ever see that photo online anywhere I'm coming after her with a revenge-by-four.

And because it should be a little chili out that night, she bought a pair of fishnets as an added touch ... :D

I picked up a Spiderman costume for the party coming up this weekend.

Hopefully there's no drama or violence this time. I don't think my friends want that, considering their halloween party is also going to be their wedding.

The first year, she invited everyone from the bar where she worked, and with it came all the bar drama. Every time I stepped outside for more beer, I overheard someone talking about how they wanted to kick someone's ass. And one time, I heard some couple arguing because she wanted to go home and he wanted to stay. Oh, and someone -- I think it was my friend's ex-husband -- stole the taps.

Last year, too drunk assholes had to be forcibly removed. The one kept stumbling around and knocking stuff over, until my friend got mad and told him to leave. He refused, so she called the cops and had them remove him. Later that night, another one smacked my friend's sister in the face for no reason. Which wasn't smart, considering her boyfriend and her entire family were right there. I was outside when it happened, so I didn't see him hit her. But I did see them carry him outside, throw him on the ground, and beat the shit out of him. :D

Me.

I actually have always wanted to go as a victim of some horrible 80's slasher film victim, but I don't know how to do the make up and I don't know of anyone that can do it either.

I always though that one single bullet hole in the forehead would be cool and maybe an exit wound in the back. Kinda like one of those gouls from Dawn of the Dead.

There's a chance I'll be going to a halloween party, and I have NO NO NO idea of what to wear!!!

Two years ago, we went to Guavaween (giant halloween street party in Tampa/Ybor city), and I went as an 80's girl....club style. I had a shirt up to my rib cage , a little little skirt (with shorts underneath...this WAS a club), 80s style makeup and hair, and sneakers haha. I dunno how comfortable I'd be with that now though. Any other ideas? I tend to have a...girl next door personality, and I don't pull off sexy very well as far as my personality (I've been told otherwise as far as my 'look' though lol).

Well, it was a toss-up between my half-finished Sesshoumaru costume (from the anime Inuyasha, for the curious) and a witch, but the witch won out. Mostly because I don't need to wear a wig for that one, I've got the hat and enough black clothing, and it'll still be comfortable with my belly protruding the way it is. Besides, I wore the half-finished Sesshoumaru costume last year.

For those interested in seeing it (and my husband's costume, which he's probably going to reprise this year), here you go. The obi from my costume looked better later, when I retied it. Oh well. http://mirrored-minds.net/kogarashi/LJ/Halloween05-1.jpg

I went to the party in my Spiderman costume as planned. Unfortunately, there were two problems with it I had not counted on. First, it was a one-piece costume, with no zipper of any kind on the front. And I was drinking beer. Needless to say, the first time I had to "water the lawn", the costume came off.

The second... well, the costume turned out to be quite snug, and let's just say it left nothing to the imagination. :p

If I get a chance, I might post a picture of me in costume, cropped at waist-level, of course. ;)

Yesterday we had a costume contest at my work and I went in as the headless horseman/skeleton guy. All the customers loved it and most of my co-workers did too. There was one problem though besides it getting stuffy on the insides...this co worker came up to me and asked if I could cut some eyeholes in my costume so "I could be recognized".. WTF??! I "politely" told her that I was NOT going to do that ( the costume cost about $40) for ANYONE. I think she was joking but now I am starting to wonder because she looked at me for a few minutes (the kind of exucse me?! look) and walked off. I asked her later if she was joiking but she never answered me. and just for her info....I could see just fine.

I KNEW I should've taken mangled corn flakes boxes and been a cereal killer.Ooh...wish I'd had the imagination to do that.

I had planned to dress up, but wasn't sure what I wanted to be. I ended up busy all weekend with no time to put a costume together, and then on Monday, I was so sick I couldn't even hold up my head long enough.
I got up Tuesday, still feeling a little crappy, so I just told everyone I was in costume, and that I was dressed as a disgruntled employee with a blinding headache. :p
