For those who don't give a crap about baseball, the Phillies won the World Series. I go to school not too far away from Philly, thus everyone blindly follows the Phillies. So of course, when the Phillies won, most people here did what any smart person would do, they went into town and rioted. I was just talking to a girl in my dorm who has a friend that has a house in town. People are smashing everything, turning over cars, trying to light cars on fire, etc. The cops are using teargas to try to stop them, but from what I can hear from my window, it's definitely still going on.

So good job you fucking morons! Keep making this school look dumber and dumber.

I wonder if it's on the news yet.

*tunes in*

Nope, still doing election crap.

Drop by UW-Madison the day after tomorrow.

Halloween always ends up turning into a riot there, or at least it used to.

Holy shit on a stick...

Google "Phillies Riots". First link that came up was where I go to school. And that was when they only just got into the World Series. The riot is slowly moving towards campus and campus police would be seriously fucked if they do get on campus. I'm going to have to move my car to the south campus if they get this far.

Just so you know, dude. Penn State's Univercity Park campus had a riot, too. It was small, and quickly quelled, but it occurred.

I also recall seeing on one of those "extreme video" shows footage of a riot that happened at UW-La Crosse.

Stupid kids looking for excuses to get drunk and start fights and tip over things and burn them are everywhere.

Penn State is a crapload bigger than WCU and our riot is still going quite strong from what my friend says who lives in the middle of it.

UP has many people who care nothing for sports, many people who are Pirates fans and hate the phillies (Like my buddy, mr 'pitsburg purist'), and many people who aren't originally from PA.

Fair enough. I got accepted there and I'm from NJ. Too expensive though. West Chester is mostly people who live around here.

My dad works at PSU altoona, so if I go to PSU, I get enough of a discount I can measure tuition for a full year in four figures, not 5 or 6.

To be perfectly honest, though, I'm dropping out, as explained in Jester's advice thread.

This is what I like about Utah... so far we haven't had any sports riots (that I know of)... and if we do I live 5 miles from the nearest sporting venue...

So are you saying my regular nightly Fox shows will be back on? No more baseball?

Oh. Thank. GOD.

That was getting irritating.

Ahh riots, I remember April 26, 1992, now that was a hell of a riot. Damn near burned half of LA down... Stupid shits burned their own neighborhoods though. So yeah, they are all a bunch of dumb ass motherfuckers if ya ask me.

My sister graduated from a Boston uni. Same school that saw a girl *killed* when the Sox beat the Yankees in 2004. She didn't know the girl and didn't participate in the riot, but she was in a nearby dorm, where her boyfriend lived at the time. Yeah, that was fun for her.

To their credit, the school set things up for the WS so that the kids were watching the game in a safe, school-controlled, alcohol-free place. No more riots, and there wasn't anyone hurt in the post-series celebration.

I still remember the riots and uproar from when the Phils won in 1983.
The SEPTA bus that Mom and I were riding on was mobbed... people crawling all over it, streets packed with people... screaming, shouting, crying...etc.
We sat there for almost 30 minutes before the bus started to move again.

You know... reading all these horror stories... maybe Feintuch wasn't that far off when he predicted that in the future professional sports would be outlawed due to the safety hazards posed by the crowds...

All they needed to stop the riot was 1 Texas Ranger. One riot one Ranger.

Hey now, the Pirates just suck...and yes, I am a fan ;) Don't like the Phillies though :D Seriously though, we haven't won a pennant since 1979!

"Our team was victorious."
"Let's celebrate by destroying our own home-towns and property."

I still can't ever understand why people would riot when their team wins.

Part of that might be because you don't have any SPORTS!

Seriously, one pro basketball team (that has never won a championship) and three "major" colleges, none of whom have won a championship, at least recently. Yeah, no riot likely there.

I still remember the riots and uproar from when the Phils won in 1983.

You either mean 1980, the last time the Phillies won, or you are talking about the 76ers, who won it all in 1983.

I haven't been following sports like I used to in the past, some 25+ years ago.
When I last watched sports, Jaworski was still playing for the Eagles and Dick Vermeil was the coach... Schmidt, McGraw and Carlton were with the Phils... Dr. J was still with the Sixers... and Lynn Swann was still played football for the Steelers and was on Mr. Rogers Neighborhood and danced with Lady Aberlin (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I7APE6mmZi8)... and not a candidate for Governor.

Just went down to put my laundry in the drier and two driers were not going. So I checked for clothes and yes, there were clothes. Gave the person almost 20 minutes, but they never came to retrieve their clothes. So I just piled their clothes on top of the driers and put my clothes in. Whoever she is, she sure did have some cute underwear :D

Edit: LOL. Just went down an hour later to get my laundry and right as I finished packing up, the girl walked in to pick up her clothes. She was just as cute as her underwear.

Seeing as I enjoy my cheap housing, taking pictures of that would probably get me in a lot of trouble.

I'm not a sports fan myself, but the cruise ship I was on (BTW, I recently got back from a 9-day cruise. Guess I didn't tell anyone outside the moderating team) had a sports bar, and it attracted quite a few people who were obsessed with the game. The one day it got rained out, there was one person after another asking about it. I'm sure the bartender got tired of having to answer the same question over and over again. I was there just a few minutes to get a beer (at $5.69) to go, and there were at least 5 people asking.

They night they finally finished the game, the bar was jam packed, and everyone was very loud. It was a bit annoying, but harmless. As far as I know, no one did anything bad.
