View Full Version : I AM NOT A PRINCESS! (language, per usual)

Okay, look. My favorite color is pink. I ADORE pink. That baffles the shit out of people who know me because of the whole snarling ass-kicker wrestler thing, but hey, I look good in it and it calms me down.
Now, I WANT to decorate my bedroom in pink. I have some sheets and a storage drawer set thus far. That's about it. I'd have more, but...
EVERY. THING. In EVERY. STORE. That is pink has either Barbie, or the words "Princess" or some god-awful butt writing or something utterly STUPID on it like "cool" or pictures of those ugly little Bratz dolls, or some other such dumb thing on it. And you know, that's fine for people who like that kind of thing, or, you know, 11-year-old girls. But what about people who are 24 and just like a color without all the freaking jizz all over it? Why can't I just have some nice pink bedspreads and a piece of furniture or two without having to take a box cutter to Barbie's face?!
I mean, I can find blue stuff, and purple stuff and red and green and white and even black stuff that isn't covered in BATS...so why is pink picked on, huh? Why do they treat pink like the color of little spastic girls who want to wear crowns and grow up to be binge drinkers?!

Mmm...have you checked out Ikea? That's the only place that I can think of that has a decent selection of linens without the princess crap on it.

I share the pain. While I am over the pink thing now, I did decide to reinforce the concept that my cube was GIRL space when they enforced a cube farm upon us at a previous job.
There was so much stuff with stupid cute girls on it or writing or sparkly things. But there was also quite a bit of stuff that didn't. Hang in there, keep looking.

I'd like to help, but all the decent linens and other home accoutremants stores I know are pretty much solely Canadian. But there's gotta be something. Try small specialty stores for specific items you're looking for, they should be able to help you out somewhat.

In the UK, I would recommend trying Argos. I dont know if you have an equiv. in the USA?

J C Penney does plain sheets in all colours, and you can buy them online. If Penney's is too pricey, you could try Ebay.

If you go their kids sectioin, they have a "poodle" bedding set in pink and a tie dye one. I'm not sure other than that.

You may be able to remove the pictures/words on the drawers, depending on how they applied them...

I saw this one under the "coverlets and bedspreads" section: http://www.thecompanystore.com/parent.asp?product=CR53x&dept%5Fid=3400
Is the "shell" color close enough to the pink you want?
This one isn't bad, if you don't mind roses: http://www.thecompanystore.com/parent.asp?product=EW66x&dept%5Fid=3002

You're just mad because you've misplaced your wrestling princess crown again.
Don't ask why I know but check out Sears, Bed, Bath & Beyond and some other one that escapes me.
Your wrestling name could be the Pepto-Princess.

Not as fun, but a lot softer pink.
Perhaps paint the walls in a pink, maybe even rag it a little, do white furniture and paint your own little pink accents onto them.

Buy everything in white and then a giant bag full of pink dye boxes!
Buy red socks. Wash with white sheets. Tada! The bachelor method.

They have really tasteful stuff at Target. Also, I've had a lot of luck buying linens ans stuff from Amazon. Tends to be cheaper, too.

I managed to find solid pink twin-size sheets and pillowcases at Wal-Mart a while back. While I'm not a big pink fan, they did go with the blanket my grandmother made for me that I took to college. I also second the white+dye method. As for furniture, buy white furniture and paint over it. Then you can have any shade of pink and any design you'd like!
