Well this is weird, I woke up this morning to my left eye swollen shut :( I have no idea what i've done to it, I can see out of it now but it's still pretty swollen and blackish looking, doesn't hurt though, just uncomfortable.

Might be an allergic reaction to something, or I was bitten by an insect during the night, I don't know.

I have to go to my daughters family fun day at her school in about half an hour, I'll probably get a few strange looks from some of the parents and teachers there since I don't have any sunglasses to wear, they'll thing my husbands been beating on me (He wouldn't dare do anything like that, his arse would be grass if he did and he knows it!)

Time to go face the people, this should be interesting.

I've had that happen before, looked like a good shiner for quite a few hours and then my eye got all watery and then slowly went away. It was sooooo weird.

I experienced this as an allergic reaction one day when a bee stung my brow while I was sleeping.

Parents and I went to the doctor, chose one at random (as we always do), and went in. he wanted to hospitalize me and give me tons of shit. We smiled, said thanks, and ran away. Chose another doctor, he gave me a single cortisone shot and in 30 minutes I was like new

I am not a doctor, but I'd reccomend to keep an eye on it (sorry!), and if it doesn't go away, or get better see a doctor.

It could be a sty, which is basically a pimple in your eyelid.

I had one of those when I was about 11. My eye just swelled up out of the blue, felt kind of sore and was a bit red. Turned out it was a tiny (smaller than the head of a pin) pimple right near a eyelash folicle.

I used warm (not too hot on your eye, please) compresses until it...well...decompressed, as it were. Totally nasty feeling, but after that it was almost completely better within hours.
