Very good friends of mine became the parents of a lovely bouncing baby girl on the 2nd of December. However, little Bean has a problem with her heart, and has gone in for an op today. She has a world-class cardiac paediatrician taking care of her, and it has a 90% success rate, but please send happy thoughts and prayers for her and her parents!

Little one came out of the op yesterday afternoon. Docs say that the next 2 days are critical and she is now in ICU. Thankfully she seems to take after Mom and Dad in that she's a fighter! Will let you know as soon as I know!

The docs have decided that they can close her chest today (had to leave it open as her heart was very swollen) and she's getting weaned off the machines over the next 48 hours. She's getting fed milk via a nosetube and the docs are very positive!

I'll keep sending all the thoughts and prayers I can, but I'm glad she seems to be doing pretty good! The human body -- even the brand new, just born one -- can be amazingly resilient sometimes. Sounds like she's a little fighter.

I just came upon this thread. I'm sending good thoughts to you and friends. I'm happy that the little one is recovering well; taking milk by ng-tube is a very good sign. It sounds like she is in good hands and will come home soon. :)
