So, there's this thing I do. I make cosmetics and all natural bath products (sugar and salt scrubs, soaps, shampoo, conditioner, ect) in my kitchen. I use them, my Hubby and kids use them, my sister and sister-in-laws and both my mother and mother in law use them as well. It's easy and cheap and everyone seems to like them.

So, I've found this website (http://etsy.com) that makes it very easy to list and sell homemade products.

So my question to you is -- would you be interested in purchasing such products? I'm thinking I could probably sell them pretty cheap and I was thinking I could customize them -- you know, have a list of all the "flavors" (scents) I have and, when someone ordered, they would specify what scents they wanted. So, basically, you could create your own scents and get all natural, homemade bath products without having to make them yourself.

I've been kind of looking around online at what I would be looking at to buy packaging materials wholesale or in bulk and I'm going to check our Sams Club when I get home to see if I can get most of the ingredients in bulk (I can't think it would be hard, it's pretty general stuff). I'm just trying to figure out if there's a market for it and if it's worth trying, or if there's something I'm missing or even if anyone has any ideas of how to make it better, you know?

Any thoughts?

(And thanks in advance for any ideas / thoughts / suggestions!)

You might want to talk to Jennie Breeden, the artist who does our weekly comic strip and her own daily strip. She's started to put harder-to-sell things on etsy. She's also very approachable, though she may take a little while to reply - lady's busy.

If I could have a card to pay with, I would buy those things.

I'd buy that stuff, it looks pretty nice actually. (I'm a sucker for nice mugs)

I know I would love some good bath salts that don't dry me out too much after said bath. Best ones I found tho were Dead Sea Salts....and one very very expensive jar of bath salt that was a 'handmade' one that while it worked nice...was very very expensive.

I think it's a wonderful idea! I'd buy it if I wasn't dead broke. :)

I've seen some cleverly packaged items using Mason Jars (reusable!), ribbon, tissue paper and pretty labels that you could print off your own computer.

Just a thinkin' outloud. ;)

It would interest me mightily if I wasn't the next best thing to broke.

... the next best thing to broke.

That means compared to me you're rich! Isn't it nice to be considered rich? :D

I am also dead broke, but you said you make makeup? Do you make mineral foundation or mineral blush? I'm always willing to splurge on natural products.

I'm a complete sucker for all things bath-related. You just tell me when and where your stuff is available, and I will buy! :)

If I trusted the Post Office in my country one bit (which I don't) I would totally go apeshit and buy everything...I LOVES natural, home-made bath stuff!!!

I was thinking more of making the packaging "homey" just because I can get things like Ball jars and such SO cheap down where I am and, like you said, it would make the jars themselves reuseable (always good). I think I'm going to talk to Hubby about starting with the bath stuff and seeing how it sells. Maybe if it goes well, I can add make up and jewelry and stuff....

I'll probably be bouncing ideas off y'all, so if anyone doesn't mind, PM me and let me know, I might use you as a sounding board! :p

Also, yes Blas, I do mineral / natural makeup. PM me and I can either 1) tell you how to do it or 2) see what I can do to help you get some!
