View Full Version : Jester's destination if he mentions the weather in Kiester Würste

Rogers Pass, MT (-70°F -56.7°C) [that'll get a giggle out of the Brits]
Peter's Sink, UT (-69°F -56.1°C) which is cold year round.

Any teleports online? Erin Stonebender-Berkowitz is reportedly in Key West, so...

Mike Callahan's method requires 'porting living & non-living under separate (lack of) cover, so the nominated traveller will reach their destination sans Hawaiian shirt & etc.
{not at all serious, Jester}:D

I won't mention the weather at all. It would be rude of me to say that today was a day that the local Chamber of Commerce would promote, or that photographers employed by the tourism arm of the city could have been earning their keep by being out today taking snapshots.

Hell, you won't hear me say a thing about the weather. Sure, today was another sandals/shortst/t-shirt day, but that is talking about fashion, NOT the weather.

And I would never, EVER, point out that New Year's Eve usually looks somewhat like this:

http://cache.daylife.com/imageserve/07pDbgy4vP6ci/610x.jpg

I mean, that would be rude to tell you about that, especially considering what those people are wearing, don't ya think?

Hell, I was rather cold today.

(Every time I stepped into the walk-in cooler at work.)

Who?

Thanks a lot, Jester. Now I'm starting to suffer from Cabin Fever again.

*Turns on Jimmy Buffet REALLY FREAKING LOUD and makes some Boat Drinks*

Is that Mallory Square, Jester?

Jester

Negative, Draggar.

That is Duval Street in front of the Bourbon Street Bar, where each New Year's Eve they have one of the three big New Year's Eve lowerings, in this case, the lowering of a drag queen in a giant high heeled shoe. The other two are the lowering of a giant Conch shell on top of Sloppy Joe's and the lowering of a "pirate wench" down the mast of a ship at Schooner Wharf Bar. Both the pirate wench and the drag queen are live people, not merely props like the Conch shell. I have, on various NYE's, seen each of these three.

Erin. Savior of the universe.

Lives in a bar on Key West "The Place" with Harry the parrot, Pixel the cat (former owner of Robert & Ginny Heinlein), rude Alf (the red nose-brain deer) ... and many other fugitives from linguistic justice, since at "The Place" the weakdays are Sunday, Monday & Punday.

Fictional character - see Spider Robinson's Callahan's Bar books.

Cool, I need to spend a New Year's down there someday, how far in advance should I book a nice little B&B for a few nights, including New Year's Eve?

Edit: Wenches - the definitive reason why pirates will always win over ninjas. :)

OK, Jester.
No pictures. No songs. No sign language. No rear end Morse code.
Or...

Bampf!! Instant giant hedgehog goosebumps...

Oh? and that "interesting" sensation is not a new boyfriend...

It's your own 'personal object' making a screaming dive for the nearest warm place.

Wenches? Isn't that a tool for tightening nuts?

Wait... there's a shoe in that picture??? Sorry, got distracted by the more than half naked men......

Right now it's 82 and sunny, we have our windows open and the fans on. It's partly cloudy but it would be a good beach day tomorrow if it wasn't for all the damn tourists / snowbirds.

Maybe we'll go to the Miccossukee (sp?) festival out in the Everglades.

Heh. Heh. Haha. Hahahahahaha. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Today would be a good day to start.

No, I am not kidding. This island of 28,000 gets approximately 100,000 people down here for NYE. You don't have to be a numbers whiz to be able to do THAT math.

Wait... there's a shoe in that picture??? Sorry, got distracted by the more than half naked men......

Oh, you would LOVE this town.

Of course, sadly for you, the chances are good that a good portion of those half-naked men are ALSO distracted by all the half-naked men. This IS Key West, after all!

There's a guy in the shoe, too. ;)

Actually, there isn't. If you look closer, you will see that the guy is BEHIND the shoe. Probably one of the staff helping with the lowering, or the MC, or something of that nature.

Actually, there is. It looks like a woman but if it's a "drag queen" that pretty much automatically means that yes, it is a guy. So there IS a guy in that shoe.

Well, yes and no. The person commenting on the guy IN the shoe meant that there was a GUY, as differentiated from a drag queen, who, while technically BEING a guy, is not a guy in the sense that they look or act like a guy, and is probably not what the poster meant when they said there is a guy in the shoe.

Amazing the words I can put together in an attempt to make sense when I have been drinking for 12 hours!

And now, purely and simply because I'm stubborn and a stickler for details and, well, right about this and don't like being told I'm wrong :o :p :D ;)

The drag queen was apparently EXACTLY who and what the original poster meant when they said there was a guy in the shoe.
