No, I haven't told her yet... that will happen this afternoon (of my local friends, the first will get off at 3, so I'm waiting til then, just in case).
She is not amused because last week she adopted 2 new cats (she is seriously turning into the crazy cat lady  ) She calls them Hobo and Angel... I refuse to call them that, I have dubbed them Apollo and Athena (much cooler sounding, don't you think). Anyway, Apollo practically refused to ever come out of hiding for the few days before I showed up... she don't me about how she was concerned about him... this morning when she walked into my room to wake me up (who wakes up at 6 in the morning anyway :( ) and what does she see... Apollo comfortably sleeping next to me... when she woke me up she woke him up too... what does he do... runs from her and hides under the blanket with me
Oh yeah, she's so happy that after days of caring for him he will immediately bond with me while I'm sleeping :p
What can I say, I'm good with cats :D

eta- Athena just did an instant bond with me too :D

 :( Your poor mom! Maybe they'll decide they like her after you're there for a bit?

You just have to make you mom realize that a person doesn't choose a cat, the cat chooses the person.:D

Mom's noticing now that when I'm not at her apartment for an extended period, McGriff will start moping, wander around crying, go off his food, etc.

Although he'll also do this if the reverse is true (if I'm there and she's out of town).

My dad wasn't a cat person, and cats liked him.

Personally, I would not change the cats names. Let mom have fun naming them.

(who wakes up at 6 in the morning anyway :( )

I do, so I can be awake enough to drive to work.

But I love your names better then your Mom's names for the cats.

Cute. Nice names (your versions) I wonder why they sound familiar? ;)

Looks like YOU'VE been adopted Smiley.

My dad wasn't a cat person, and cats liked him.

Mine was the same way. My kitten still scratches at what was his door to be let in and will sometimes meow at it. Now that someone else is in that room (temporarily, I hope) maybe she'll get the idea that he's not there.

All of my cats have loved my dad like that.

Cats tend to go to non-"cat people" because they don't feel threatened by them, because they aren't trying to get the cat's attention. My aunt's cat used to always get up in my dad's lap, even though he "hates" cats. Never shooed him away, though...

My girlcat, Stars, was supposed to be MY cat. She is a complete and total daddy's girl, though. From the beginning, she would get up on his chest and nuzzle his face. She does it to me sometimes, too, but never my mom. Mom's jealous (even though the boy likes her best). When my dad goes to bed she sits with him, and when he sleeps on his side she lays on his other side facing the door. Guarding him, I guess. :D

Cats are fickle evil things when it comes to affection, one of mine decided that the only person she'll talk to is my mother.

How'd telling your mother go Smiley?
