Buy 1 Get 1.... NOT FOR YOU!

For you non smokers out there, Camel has been running Buy 1 Get 1 specials on their menthol cigarettes lately.

Last night I walked in to 7-11 to get 2 packs. There was a big sign on the rack that said "All Camel Menthols - Buy 1 for 4.38, 2nd free!"

The clerk flat out refused to sell them to me and said "NO BUY 1 GET 1 FREE!" (exactly like that). I pointed at the sign and was like "why do you have the sign up then?"

The asshat just covered it with his hand and still refused to sell them to me (note: I'm 28, and look well over 18, and he never asked for an ID).

There were plenty of packs on the rack too, including several pre-packaged BOGO packs. He tried to hand me Marlboro Menthols.

I left without cigs and went to another store.

Sidenote: I gave up cigarettes years ago - I was picking them up for my boss on my last delivery.

I'm not a smoker, so maybe there's some important backstory to all this that I don't know about, but...that is just freakin' weird. :confused: Makes my brain hurt just a wee teeny bit, too.

How very ODD.

When I was working at the gas station, we'd have BOGOF for Camels (and others) a lot. I NEVER refused to sell them.

If you ever find out what's going on, I'd like to know.

:confused: I'm a Camel smoker but not menthol. I've had no problems buying the BOGO menthol packs for my friend at Sheetz. Hmm. (My friend at Sheetz isn't a minor, if anyone was thinking that. Sometimes he buys packs for me when I'm out of money and I was paying him back.)
