My hubby just reminded of of something that happened a while ago. I just want opinions b/c i STILL feel bad about this. lol.

IT was getting close to senior prom and I was eyeing up a necklace at a jewlery kiosk that I worked next too. I was friendly with the girls and had put other pieces of jewlery on hold (like a friendly layaway) til I could gather the money.

I found THE PERFECT NECKLACE EVER. It was gorgeous, but it was also $65 and that was kinda steep for a necklace that I was just going to wear once, so I held off on buying it.

One night while working, a pair of girsl probably my age, looking like they were also shopping for a prom, came up to the jewlery counter and were looking at stuff. They stop at THE PERFECT NECKLACE, and I hear the squeals of glee as one of them trys it on. My heart dropped. It was like I lost my best friend. But after a few minutes, they put it back on the stand and wander off into Claires.

I RUN down the hall to the girl there and BEG her to put it on hold for me (seeing those girls fingering the necklace was too much..lol) So, she takes it down and puts it away. I walk to my kiosk all smiles, and not 2 minutes later the girls come out of claires and make for the jewlery counter.

I knew what was happening, so I picked up the phone and called my BF and tried to look busy. I could hear the girls ask where the necklace is, they had decided to buy it. The girl working, instead of just telling her its been sold, POINTS AT ME and tells them I bought it.

If looks could kill, Id definately be dead and my body wouldve been in chunks no bigger than a quarter. I didnt look directly at them, but I KNEW they were pissed and could see them out of the corner of my eyes.

They kinda wavered as if they were going to come over to confront me, but decided against it ( i wouldve kicked ass and been fired, but the necklace wouldve been mine..muahahah) and they walked away.

I was a little pissed off at the jewlery counter sales girl for just not telling them it was sold. At the same time, I feel like I was sucky b/c I couldnt decide that I wanted it until I saw them touch it, then I practically stole it from under them.

Should I feel guilty? Should I still feel like tripping the jewlery counter girl when I see her? ( I kid, I kid...she did annoy me with that though)

It looks better on me anyway.

its a necklace, not a kidney

dont worry about it honey, if thats all they have to be upset about, then they are very lucky girls.

LOL...thank you. That made me laugh...

I know it was just a necklace, but I still feel slightly guilty and its 8 years later.....

Did you take it without paying? Did you take something they had bought before you? If you answered no to both of these questions, then don't bloody worry about it, you've done nothing wrong. They liked it, yes, but so did you when you first saw it. They may have decided quicker than you did, but since it took them long enough to do so that you had time to go and ask for it, they obviously weren't sold on the first look, and you merely made up your mind at an earlier chronological point. Enjoy your property, I guarantee you they found something else, or went bare-necked, quite frankly many people, myself included, find that look appealing.

The only suck I see here is on the necklace seller. No reason why she had to tell the girls the necklace was sold to you. All she had to do was say it was sold and leave it at that.

You made up your mind before they did. No harm in that.
