View Full Version : I have to go to the doctor soon

Okay. I just read Technical.Angel's post. The one she didn't want to write.

And I just had to write about what I've been going through. It's quite similar, actually.

Three weeks ago, I went into work at noon. Not 15 minutes after I got there, I got this nasty case of vertigo. The room was spinning on me, and I had to grab on to the register just to keep standing. I could barely talk, and just handed the last customer their change. Then I told the CSM that I needed to sit down, stumbled over to the bench, and tried to sit down. I ended up falling into the bench, almost knocking it over. It felt like I was super drunk while trying to walk. I was not going straight, as I am told. So I sit down for a while, and it stops after 20-30 minutes. I tell the other CSM I don't think I can stay. She tells me to sit in the back for a while longer, (I was in the front of ths store before) and see if I feel any better. Well, I didn't after another 10, 15 minutes, (I didn't have vertigo at this point, I just didn't think I should stay just in case it happened again) so I just told her that I wanted to go home. I had to call my dad to get me (I got dropped off that day...I have some weird ESP thing on when things are going to happen...that's another story though).

Right after that episode...I had a sudden, severe headache on the right side of my head. The left side was completely fine. I told my mom about this, and told me to go down to Urgent Care. So my dad took me. I sat there for 2 hours waiting to get in. Matt (the boyfriend) came down too. :) So...I finally get in, and they check me out and everything (I should mention that the headache went away after a bit). And they said the worse it could be was a brain tumor. They didn't think it was anything else. They also said that if I have I get a severe headache, or it happens again, that I need to be checked by the ER. So off I went cause I was feeling fine.

I had a headache for a week after that. But, it wasjust a dull pain, so I didn't think to go in (since they said SEVERE headache, and that's not what I had).

I've also been feeling kind of nauseous every so often in class. Now, I've had this before, where I've gotten sick to my stomach for no reason, having to go to the bathroom thinking i'm going to throw up and stuff...and sometimes I had. Most of the time not though. Anyways...

Cut to last night. I'm trying to go to bed, and then I open up my eyes, and the room is moving a bit. I close my eyes, and it feels like I'm spinning. I'm thinking great... I have vertigo again, and this time I'm lying down? Can that even happen? I guess it can...I always sleep on my side, and that's when that happened. So I laid on my back until it stopped. No headache with this one. But this morning, I felt nauseous again. I feel fine now, but I almost threw up in the library 20 minutes ago. (i'm on a break at school right now).

So I told my mom, and she said to make an appointment with the doctor today. Well, call them today and make an appointment sometime soon, before my insurance runs out. So I will...but I don't want to go in any time soon. I mean, I want to go in, and the soonest possible...but not today or tomorrow. I have my 8 year anniversary with Matt (the boyfriend) tomorrow...but I suppose I can just call and set up a time for Friday or something.

It's kind of scary. It sounded like TA's problem...(with the vertigo and headaches). So...maybe I should be a bit worried now...and first check to make sure its not anything else causing the headaches (I do have a cold right now...they said that might be a reason...I've had this stupid thing for a month).

Sorry...that was a lot of information crammed together in not too many paragraphs. I could have spaced it out more. And made it more coherent.

Oh..and it seems that I haven't been able to concentrate much any more lately, too.

So..I guess I just want to know everyone's thoughts...does it sound like TA's situation? And I guess I just want people to know, too.

Sometimes coldvirus go into the inner ear. I've tried it myself , I got over it in a few weeks. I didn't have much of a headache but the rest sounds familiar. Good luck:wave: .

I have vertigo also, the positional kind. Yours sounds more severe than mine though. When an episode hits, try taking some Bonine. It's essentially drammamine, but it's nondrowsy, chewable, and it tastes yummy lol. It's meclizine, which is antivert - the medication the doc will prescribe you as a stabalizer. You need to go to an ontolarynologist (ear, nose, and throat doc) who can diagnose the vertigo, then see if he/she can recommend a good neurologist to get an MRI from. It's scary, but there so many things that can go wrong in the brain that screw with balance and perception, and the headache may be part of the 'result'...if that makes sense. Kind of how you can get a headache after a roller coaster or spinning in circles or whatever. However....I'd STRONGLY recommend you to go to a doc, take care of this before it (potentially) takes care of you. Good luck, and keep us posted!

If none of us here are qualified to dispense psychological/relationship advice, we are certainly out of our leagues when it comes to medical issues!! ;) Please, get to a doctor as soon as you can, tell them exactly what you posted here (which is a very thorough and descriptive list, just what a doctor needs to hear!) and please keep us posted on your progress!! Good luck, zeoquean. :)
