So in one of the shipments, we got these "Currency Bookmarks" from a vendor. And we have to put them at the register to sell them. Great, more shit to hawk.

One of the co-workers who's into coins notices this and does a little brief on the designs (From $100 to $10,000 bills) and why they are that size (something to do with "required reproduction standards") and one of us tries to pay with the note mockingly. This sorta upsets the co-worker:

"You guys need to know that even if it is done in jest, remitting that sort of note as payment is technically illegal under United States law, seeing that you are trying to pass a "fake" bill. Even thought reproductions like that are technically legal to produce."

Why didn't I heed his words? Or for that matter, why is it men need to be "cute" and try to" pay" for the purchases with those stupid bookmarks? I've counted at least 150 guys pulling this stunt, and we're not even into the first 7 days we had them. And it's not funny anymore, it's downright disgusting. I'm about ready to throttle the next guy that pulls this stunt again. And then call the US Secret Service over it.

Now i'm trying to find a "loophole" in the sales plan to shove these things elsewhere, while my co-worker has contacted the local SS branch about seeing what the true legality of these things are. God I really hate these things now.

But since they were store property in the first place wouldn't that make you an accomplice?

This reminds me of the whole thing where if an item won't scan, people, without fail, will say, "Oh, I guess it's free! Haha!"

Guess what, dumbass. You're not the first person to make that joke. About a million other people have already. It's not funny. Stop doing it.

Another variation of the classic, "I printed 'em this morning! Har! Har! Har!"

Sorry Sir, I can't accept this note, you've just told me it's a forgery... ;)

I did something like that. I looked at the guy and said "I'm sorry. Could you stay where you are so I can call the cops?"

I need to remember that.

I always do my normal checks on the bill, and if someone says they just printed it, I check as usual. If it passes (and it always has thus far), I say "Good job." and finish the transaction.

Reminds me of the guy who kept trying to "jokingly" pass bills with Hilary Clinton on them. Look buddy, none of our employees are that stupid and you're apparently not nearly as clever as you think you are.
