1) the customer was parked in the garage longer than 5 minutes
2) I explained to him when he arrived that since there were 2 people in the car, he can park at the drop off zone, & as long as one person stays in the car, he can go upstairs & drop off his paperwork. I explained to him that it is a $5.00 flat rate to park in Visitor Parking from one minute to all day. The guy & the person who was driving discussed this & decided to park in Visitor Parking
3) I explained to him that it is $5.00 to park in the garage & where to pay the $5.00
The phone inside the booth rings. I look up, & there is a black car at the exit gate.
me: me
male customer who had selective listening: mcwhsl
me: "Visitor Parking booth. How may I help you?
mcwhsl: "Yeah...we parked in the garage, & I stayed in the car. We only parked for 5 minutes"
me: *Well..you decided to park in the garage knowing it was $5.00 to park there. I hoped you listened to that. I told you that you could park at the drop off zone as long as someone stayed in the car. Sorry, but you have to pay.*
me: "I'm sorry, but since you parked in the garage, you have to pay for your parking. It is $5.00 to exit."
mcwhsl: "Okay....where do we pay at?
me: "You either pay at the vending machine inside the glass elevator lobby on the same level you parked your car or at the parking office on the third floor."
I hung up the phone, & watched for the black car to back up. It finally backed up. The driver took a while to pay for the parking, but he finally exited.
