Syd Barrett was one of the true rock legends. He may not have been well known due to the moderate success of the early albums of Pink Floyd when compared to Dark Side or The Wall, but his work on Piper set the basis for the work done on Dark Side. His reclusiveness in past years limited his exposure, but it was good to se him make an appearance at Live Aid last year. Sid, we'll miss ya.

I think you got a bit confused there on members of Floyd.... its Roger Waters who rejoined the band for Live 8 last year not Syd.......

(Unless was Syd hiding in a corner and none of us knew about it)

I think Demolitionman is correct. Syd hadn't performed in a number of years. But he is still a legend and blew me away when I heard the news this morning. RIP Syd.

I thought Syd did come out of seclusion for Live 8, but I could be wrong. Maybe they just mentioned his name on stage. I do agree that Gilmour and Waters got over their feud to put on the Live 8 show.

Regardless of who is right or wrong, Syd Barrett will be missed and was an integral part of Pink Floyd.

Syd was truly the definition of that fine line between insanity and genius and it showed in his music.
