Anyone happen to stumble on Microsoft's website when they were offering the RC1 version of Window's Vista to use???? I did and decided to install it on my computer. The graphics are awesome and there's so many neat gadgets, everything in 3D. The only thing is that it's a big-time memory sucker. I've got 640MB of RAM (they recommend 1GB of RAM for it to run smoothly) and runs a little slow sometimes. Other than that it's worth checking out.
I have it. I think even RC1 is more stable on my machine than XP SP2. I've only got 512mb of RAM, but it performs okay... as well as XP. My take is that it stays stable with use, unlike XP which always seemed to degrade between reboots. The Aero interface is very handsome, but between the RAM and my graphics card, too slow to use all the time -- fortunately, there's a more basic interface.
So far, only 1 program incompatibility... Nero DVD burning software. My understanding is that all the burning programs will have be revised for Vista, but I haven't researched it completely.
I'm happy with it, which is unsual for me. I've used every Windows release since 3.1 and eventually grew comfortable with them, but I was never particularly impressed.
