Alright, I'll fess up. I like the song "Lips of an Angel" by Hinder. At least I used to like it.
I saw the video the other day and now I can't stand to listen to the song, because I keep seeing the lead singer's very odd and affected movements and facial expressions every time I do.
The guy drove me up the wall when I saw the video. It was like a very bad Steven Tyler impersonation.
So now, I can't stand to listen to the song anymore.

Back in the early 1980s, there was a song by Kim Wilde called "Kids In America". Dynamic, bouncy, great-to-dance-to song.
Then I saw the video. Bland and boring, and Ms. Wilde wore a deadly dull expression that never changed throughout the video, no matter what emotion was called for by the lyrics or the scene. :|
Ms. Wilde was a one-hit-wonder. Wanna guess why?
There was also a group called The New Radicals, I can't remember the name of the tune, but it was very upbeat. Then I saw the video, and the band were terrorizing a shopping mall and helpless elderly people. That ruined the song for me, too.

The video for "Black Hole Sun" by Soundgarden. Just the THOUGHT of it makes me want to go insane.
I truly can't stand the song anymore, either.

That's an awesome song. Try not being able to listen to Touch Me by the Doors thanks to a video my friends made.

Actually, that's why I love the show "Video on Trial" on MuchMusic-basically, a group of five people rip into a video, MST3K-style. That Hinder song was on last week's song, and they tore it a new one. Man, that song was lame. But, to be fair, they'll rip on videos that they like, too. It's hilarious

Ok, I'll admit it. I liked "Sexyback" by Justin Timberlake until I saw the video. Dumbest.video.ever.

I know! Is Jstin a spy? Why is he on the balcony? Who's this chick? Why is he getting down with her? Didn't she blow up something important? Why the hell am I watching this drivel? Where's the remote?

It is sad that the art of the music video has been degraded latley into a buch of chicks poledancing while a blinged-out pimp trys to sing. What happend to music videos that complemented the song, that made them better, that were good videos that you could watch over? Videos like, say, Peter Gabriel's Sledgehammer, or that White Stripes one with the lego? Those were good videos, and good songs too...

 Yes, that's a very good point. And you don't have to spend a ton of money to make an attractive video; The Police's "Wrapped Around Your Finger" was just the band surrounded by dozens of lit candles. Inexpensive, yet elegant and memorable.

Um, I'd question the usage of the word 'lately'. 'bling' and suggestive dancing have been making their move for world domination for some years, unfortunately...
Talent doesn't count for much these days, just how good your publicist is.

Such as and including the videos for "Runaway Train" by Soul Asylum and "One" by MetallicA?

Ever see the video for Turn the Page by Metallica? That one got me...:(
I don't think I've watched music videos since MTV got rid of Headbanger's Ball...
Ok, not entirely true...I liked Pop-Up Video on VH1 for awhile there...if I hated the song, I just muted it :D

I never was fond of the video for "Turn the Page"...I just never got what a stripper had to do with the song, but anyhoo...
I miss Pop Up Videos...even with the crappy songs, I'd learn something new...

While we're on the subject of MTV, I found a song in my music collection titled "MTV Makes me Want to Smoke Crack" by Beck. It is a very funny song.

I think it was trying to describe the plight of the single mom having to scratch out a living stripping and being a prostitute...not sure what it has to do with the actual song lyrics, but the mood of the music and imagery were just sad. Unless my memory is totally skewed and I'm thinking of a different video...

(S)aint by Marilyn Manson - is it just me, or does the chick(?) in the wedding dress look disturbingly like Tim Skold? Is Manson trying to tell us something here? O_o"
Also, Gardenia by Malice Mizer. I dislike Mana intensely, and he annoys the everloving sh!t out of me in that clip. *is slaughtered in her bed by the minions of the Silent One*
Last, but never least - has anyone noticed how, in the clip for Welcome to My Life (or whatever that bloody stupid song was called), Simple Plan are really really bad at lipsynching? My friend loves Simple Plan, and won't hear of this. I want them to die now.

No, you're thinking of the right one.
I can just think of other things that I'd rather see in a MetallicA video, myself.

I agree with you, Becky, that there were many much better Metallica videos ;) . The story of the woman in Turn The Page just made me really sad whenever I saw it.
