Hey, i'm trying to fix my computer. Somehow it got infected with this thing that:
1) Pops up websites (tried turning off my pop-up blocker)
2) LimeWire starts up even though I shut it down....
Computer's still operational but slowed as heck! I've tried running ad-aware and antivirus. what do i do? Thanks so much!

That sounds like 80% of spyware/virus out there. ad-aware does not detect 100% of spywares. You have to run more than one to cover all the bases.
This is not something that can be given a step by step solution without know exactly which spyware infected your PC. Also we would need to know which OS, if the pop-up happen only when IE is browsing or it pop up without IE open. The list goes on and on and on. Your best bet is to reformat or find somebody local to fix it.

In limewire, go to the Tools menu. Pull down to Options and click.
Once that opens, click "Advanced" on the left. It should be at the far bottom of the screen. Once Advanced opens up, it should show the following: Preferences, Firewall Config, Proxy, System Startup.
Click System Startup, and uncheck the box that will open on the right.
Now, click Apply twice. It has a habit of not doing it if you click once. Once you do that, click OK and let it close.
Now, Limewire won't start unless you want it too.

I was reading it as limeware was "starting" up after he close the program. Not booting up the computer. Which would mean a more serious issue.

You should be able to get some help here. (http://www.dslreports.com/forum/cleanup)
There is a list of steps that you need to go thru to try and get it cleaned up before you ask for help. This alone may fix your problem, but if not, I've found that the people who frequent that particular forum are very knowledgeable and helpful. :)
