So, I couldn't figure out what to do for dinner. The meat I'd pulled out hadn't thawed yet, so I had to go back to the drawing board.

I decided to do a light pasta dish. Had everything going, quick tomato basil sauce, water boiling for pasta, cheese cut up, etc.

Time comes for me to test the pasta, make sure it's fully cooked. Since I life in a small apartment, I can't exactly throw it to see if it sticks on anything, so I fish a piece out with the tongs, and go to taste it instead.

Except it falls off the tongs.

And lands on my cleavage.

Holy fuck that BURNS!!!

I now have a red welt/burn line down my right breast.

dinner was tasty, though...

lol

This is true. Rather frustrating, sometimes, but hey, in away, the protect my feet...? I guess...

Erg, can't even count the number of times my poor girls have been injured in the line of life...that's rather depressing.

I'm just really hoping it didn't burn bad enough to blister because that'd REALLY suck going to work tomorrow and having to explain two things.

1. Why I'm wearing a lower cut top and not the work t-shirt and
2. The blistering burn line on my tits.

Oh, that'll be a GRAND conversation. <twitch>

This, I cannot relate to... :o

Though I did manage to hit myself in a rather sensitive spot in the area with the razor one day in the shower. That wasn't pleasant...

Psh, I once was boiling water for some Mac & Cheese (mmmmhhh) and went to strain it when I lost my balance enough to spill boiling water on my foot which had no shoe or sock on it!!!!! Gods that hurt!!! (only a minor burn and it healed....eventually....but still!)

So anyone else have pasta related injuries?

Oh lord, you people are just like me. I didn't know there were more klutzs like me!!

I have a burn scar from a waffle iron. It is a portable one that you can take camping (it is great). Hubby had cooked the last one and he gave it to me and I reached over the iron to get the waffle. Yes over the red out metal. I have a waffle square burn on my arm.

If we go on vacation, people tell me not to get any new scars.

So anyone else have pasta related injuries?

No, but I have injured myself via roast. Though that was more the grease's fault. Lemme 'splain:

I forget how old I was at the time, but I couldn't have been much more past 10. My mom was outside gardening and she'd told me how to start the roast in the pan for her to save some time, so I went about my duties until the crucial moment came: actually putting, which in my case ended up being more like *dropping*, the roast into the HOT PAN WITH HOT MELTED SHORTENING.

This is how I learned that you have to be VERY CAREFUL when putting things into hot pans of hot oil-of-any-type. I'm damn lucky I didn't blind myself or something; as it was, I had a bizarre spotted scarring all over my arm to show for it for a good long while. (Painful too - I used to wear watches on that arm as a kid and couldn't because my wrist was part of the burned area.) And I have been wary ever since when dealing with such objects.

Sweety thats just one of my many pasta burns i also burned a about football shapped area of my left torso that took ages to heal and would be scarred horrible right now if not when the open sores had closes and scabbed i applied coco butter three times a day for 2 monthes.

Rather unpleasant, yes!

although, this morning, it looks like most of the burn was just a temporary welt, thank GODS. I have one spot, about the size of a small pill, though that blistered. So, I have to be extra careful when moving today, and make sure my necklace don't poke it, and my shirt don't rub it raw.

Stunning. Yes. Let's leave it at that.

oh oh you have a pasta passed wound too!?!?

Oooh, yes, lots!

Owwies. You has my sympathy. Tummy wounds aren't fun. Movement hurts, and you don't realize just how much movement and contact you make in or around your midsection until you have a wound there.

lol I remember you telling me that. Man you have a special talent, you do.

Indeed I do. Unfortunately, it's not a marketable talent. That'd be sweet. But no, the only perks I get from interesting injuries are people laughing at me, and an ongoing catalog with pics when available.

And no, I'm STILL not going to take pics of this one for anyone. so there. :p

Over spring break, I was encouraged to make dinner while slightly drunk (not falling down or anything, barely over tipsy). Now, I've done this before and nothing bad happened, and all I decided to do was throw some premade chicken wings in the oven and fry some potatoes in oil on the stovetop.

While dishing the potatoes out, one slipped off the spatula and splashed the hot oil. You're lucky, I DID get the quarter sized blister on my boob, and a few small ones on my foot. I think I scared everyone a little when I yelled, "FUCK!" and punched the refridgerator.

>.< Everyone has my sympathies. Oww. :(

I just trip over my own toes and have quick meetings with the ground. I'm lucky in that I can save myself most meetings with the ground, but my ankles are never very happy about it.

There was one time, when I was around 10 or something, and I was pruning small twiggy branches on the peach tree. I think it may have been to keep the peaches from weighing down the peach tree or some such thing. I had pruning...shears I guess they're called? They look like scissors. Anyway.

Was snipping away. Got my finger in the way.
Cut the sides of my finger. It hurt. No stitches, but I was not happy.

I was *just* putting on my work clothes, standing in the computer room doorway and I smacked my knuckles HARD against the doorframe.

Took off some skin.

Yay, I'm not alone in the world of speshul klutziness! I embrace my brethren! Hopefully without putting out an eye, mine or theirs. :p

My mother, btw, was highly amused at the noodle burn, as she now calls it. Though she says I still haven't beaten either the root beer bottle cap to the neck, OR the time I accidentally stabbed myself with an athame to the stomach...

Why does she want me to BEAT these things...?

Oh great! I was thinking of making spaghetti and meatballs tomorrow for dinner! Now I'm afraid to do it. :p Ah well ... If I get any injuries, I know whom to blame. Mr. Rum, of course! Whom did y'all think I was going to say? Lupo?

Wish me luck!

Good luck! And no worries. Just remember, I'm teh speshul one over here who apparently can hurt herself with a limp noodle.

Mmm, meatballs sound tasty. Wonder if I have the stuff at home to make a batch. Must check when I'm done with school for the day.

I once had the oh so very brilliant  idea of testing a knife blade. On my finger. Tried to give myself papercut-like damage. Ended up in the ER. No stitches though, and now a few months after that, it seems like the nerve damage was very minor.

Went out till late one night, next morning was blearily getting dressed, leaned over the ironing board to get unders out of the drawer....the iron was still on. Being Very Female in build, it did some damage before I actually felt it. I had to explain to the physician's male assistant how I got a 1" x 4" burn right down the middle of the most sensitive spot on one of the Girls. And yes, I had the added insult of having had an audience for the damage. Oh, god. That was almost as bad as having such a stupid and painful burn.

Well since everyone is sharing their stories, I'll share one of mine. Um when I was like 10 I was at a pool and got the awesome idea to run when I got out. Well let's just say when they say "don't run at the pool" there's a good reason for it. I slipped and busted a HUGE hole in my knee. Seriously I had a hole covering the entire knee!! Lots of blood and I could even see a little of my knee cap, as in the actual bone. Gah! It hurt!

Took months to heal. Not fun having a giant bandage on your knee when outside playing and getting grass in your wound. I still have a scar though it's getting less and less visible over the years.

Then of course theirs the funny one (well it wasn't funny to me!) where I was on a swing and fell off (don't ask) and broke my arm....No joke....
