Last night, I decided my bangs were too long. I also decided it wouldn't be worth going to a hair salon and paying $15 just to get my bangs cut. So, the only option was to do it myself. I wet my hair down, combed forward the part I wanted to cut and measured out what I thought was short without being too short. Turns out I thought wrong. Maybe it had to do with the fact that my scissors were dull but I messed my bangs up pretty bad. I tried to cut them so they'd be all side-sweepy but they turned out straight. This morning I was late for work because I couldn't figure out how to do my hair so it wouldn't look stupid. Oh and my boyfriend told me my bangs made me look like a little kid. There is nothing I can do to make them better. I have to wait for them to grow out... my hair takes FOREVER to grow. This happens every time I cut my bangs myself but I always think I have figured out a way to do it right. Next time, I am just going to stop being such a penny-pincher and cough up the $15 so I won't look so goofy... again.

I always seem to regret getting my hair cut. I never try to do it by myself, but even if I go to a salon, I'm not happy the next day.
Thankfully, my hair grows very quickly. I wish I could figure out how I do it, so I could share with you!! Last year, I donated 12 inches of it to Locks of Love - and I hated my hair for about two months. Now, a year later, it is the exact same length it was before I cut it. I think most people's hair grows at a rate of about 1/4 inch per month - mine seems to grow about an inch a month.
I take lots of calcium supplements, maybe if you started beefing up on those your bangs would grow back faster?
Either way, just keep in mind that they will grow back eventually!

I love getting my haircut. Cutting my hair involves me taking my shaver and buzz my head. It's so great having a buzz cut. Barely have to take care of it, nice and cool in the summer, don't have to comb it or any of that crap.

I can't stand buzzcuts, I grow it out now. For some strange reason though if I do cut it I feel like my hair is there even though it isn't.

May I recommend headbands and/or sparkly barrettes?
Proper hair dressers are really worth the money unless you literally need a trim for the ends of long hair.
They are taught all the muscles under the scalp, and how cutting hair this way or that will effect those muscles. Plus its not as easy as it looks, my mum owned her own salon for a long time, and started teaching me basic cutting as a teenager, practising on her, it really is an art form and very hard to get right. It took me 2 years just to get resonably good at a blunt cut, I still cant razor or feather to save my life.
Find a good hair dresser and STICK with them, usually if your a regular some salons or hairdressers will include free or discounted fringe upkeep

Hats. Hats work wonders. I haven't had my hair cut in a while, and while I'm at work, I wear a hat. It's getting really long. I just haven't had the time to get it cut. So I may let it grow out.
I haven't had long hair since I was in 10th grade or something like that.. when The Dead Milkmen were around.
Hats are your friend. Try a baseball cap of some obscure farm team.

The Dead Milkmen
OMG, I haven't heard them in ages. I used to love listening to them with friends. We got so good we'd recite the entire disc on a long trip.
Anywayz, back on topic. I cut my own hair all the time. Mainly because I buzz it. It's so much cooler and feels so nice when your head hit the pillow at night. I do miss my long hair, yes I once had hair down to my ass. It was a nice blonde lions mane ala Dave Mustaine style hair. I'll have to find some old high school pics of myself and everyone can have a good chuckle. I'd grow my hair out again, but it would just look odd with the....sigh....receding part up front now. :(

I've gotten fairly decent at cutting my own bangs. Granted, usually it's not something I plan...I wash my hair, I'm looking in the mirror, there happens to be a pair of scissors there...BAM, I'm holding a clump of hair in my hand.
But what I do is comb forward the part of my hair that I want as bangs, then twirl it until it's a tight twist, then just cut it straight across. Then you only have to trim a little bit at the sides and you got bangs. They're a LITTLE uneven but by the time I'm done drying my hair, you couldn't even tell unless you were invading my personal space, heh.

My mom was a hair dresser, too and I still get her to cut my hair when I go down to see her. I have a basic cut, but I love to have it razor cut instead of with scissors, and it is so hard to find anyone who is able to do a razor cut anymore. I do know one girl, but it is hard to get in to see her sometimes.

I grew my bangs out. My hair is too curly for them anyways.
My husband shaves his head with a set of clippers, mostly because he's gotten rather thin up top....

I usually get a buzzcut. Not military-style, but short enough. That seems to be the only solution--my hair goes where it wants. 30 years on, I'm tired of messing with it :p

Getting my hair cut is an ordeal.
I never leave anything to chance. I go to salons, that's right, salons.
I have a couple of preferred hair stylists. So, I would never cut my own hair.
