View Full Version : Movie Ideas?

I want to watch a movie tonight, but I don't know what. I was hoping you people could provide me with some ideas.

Some Guidelines:

Nothing in theaters, 'cause I can't get there.

I don't like horror, in general, because I usually don't enjoy the movie, but I still get scared, so now I didn't have fun, and/I] I can't sleep.

I do like suspense, though.

I like action movies.

I like movies that are so bad they're good ([I]Underworld, Equilibrium, Resident Eviletc.)

I'm very picky about my comedy. Usually I don't like movies driven by the characters stupidity. (Dude, Where's My Car) I never like humor by embarrassment. (Borat)

I like romance, but as more of a subplot.

That's all I can think of right now.

If someone wants to helo me out with this, that'd be really awesome.

Just got back from seeing, "Knowing."

Can't recommend it. Had plenty of suspense for a long time, and then just went to crap in the last thirty minutes.

King Arthur - the one with Clive Owen and Ioan Gruffud (sp?). It's FULL of historical inaccuracies, but it's very entertaining. And the Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot thing is shoved pretty far into the background.

North by Northwest Hitchcock suspense, some romance, great plot, great cast.

Raiders of the Lost Ark You haven't watched this enough recently. No one has.

The Devil's Backbone More suspense than horror. Some scary bits, but not at all nightmare fuel. Wonderful film if you don't mind subtitles.

Tampopo Also subtitled. Really funny movie about food. Two truckers try to help a woman create the perfect ramen restaurant.

Fight Club Filled with awesome and a creamy nougat center.

Hot Fuzz Some gore, but the best parody of the last 10 years.

Airplane! Arguably the best parody ever.

Some Like it Hot Arguably the best comedy ever.

Edited to add: Gymkata If it were any stupider, it'd be the third movie in a trilogy.

Oooh. That sounds fun. For my birthday I'm going to make my friends sit through an Underworld marathon. (Not as cruel as you think, we were planning on doing it anyway, but now there will be cake!)

I wound up assing around on the intarwebz until after the movie places I can walk to closed, but I'll probably pick up something from this thread tomorrow.

Oh crap, I gotta clean the kitchen, and get up at 6:30 to go for a two mile walk. Gotta actually start training for the Breast Cancer 3 Day.
