I've been an avid CSI fan ever since the first time I saw it. I've seen literally every episode. However, I am really disappointed with the current season.
I still watch every episode as it airs, but they don't keep me interested like they used to. I think the show is going pop; no longer focusing on the science but instead on the political and social aspects. And a guest appearance by K Fed? Please.
What do you think?

I'm majoring in Forensic Chemistry. And the most asked question I get is, "Oh, I bet you watch a lot of CSI!" Hah, not really. And what I'm doing is not crime scene investigating, it's labwork only. But since I've gotten to school, I'll keep CSI on if I'm flipping through the channels. Only the original CSI though, none of the new cities.

I can't stand CSI because there are so many mistakes, innacuracies, and downright impossibilities in that show. I doubt the writers of that show have even fired a BB gun there are so many mistakes involving firearms in that show. The show is even having negative impacts in court cases where jurors think that CSI = Real life.

Yea, i agree. Ive seen a number of things on CSI that make me go "WTF? :CBF: That cant be right."
I remember reading an article in the paper that talked about how CSI was influencing people. They would get jobs in the CSI line of work, and then realize its nothing like the show.
O RLY?
hehe
The one that stands out the most is the one where the guy ate himself to death.
The "jerk" lab guy got to seperate the contents of the guys stomach.
And he did it perfectly with a pair of tongs, even got all the colors unmixed.

CSI: Las Vegas is one of 2 shows that I will stay up past my bedtime to watch. I understand that everything is theatrically enhanced, I do not think it is real life, but I like they way the writers do the storytelling. I am hooked on this season, but I have been rather upset that they started a huge storyline, then abruptly put in a few new episodes w/o even mentioning new plotline, then a re-run just because of the stupid world series.
NY and Miami are not nearly as good, which was disappointing because I usually enjoy Gary Senise (sp?).

i have a friend who works for the Forensic Science Service and he hates and despises CSI with a passion. His main objection is not that the science itself is wrong, but that it has created such unrealistic expectations on the part of ordinary people, and even police officers. He also froths at the mouth over the way they seem to get involved in solving the crime, since his view is that a forensic scientist is required to do the science, not the sleuthing, and indeed, getting involved with the crime solving itself debases his position as the unbiased, evidence-based scientist.
I agree with everything he rants.

For those of you who aren't fans of the show, you might enjoy this: http://www.vgcats.com/comics/?strip_id=61
I like the show, but I understand that in real life, it can take months for the things they accomplish in hours, and a real CSI's job probably doesn't involve interrogation. Which is why I prefer Law and Order :)

I have been known to watch CSI (Las Vegas ONLY, thank you very much). I enjoy it as a show, sometimes, but aspects of it irritate me to no end.
Oh, well.

My biggest beef with CSI is why all the flashlights, do you ever investigate somewhere there is direct lighting?
The DNA stuff is mostly BS, a lot of their chemistry is also BS, I won't go into the ballistic BS they espouse.
I guess for some basic brainless entertainment it's OK but given CSI (and most TV) and static????? Static is winning more and more. Actually if I'm working on a project I'm much rather read.

I'll sometimes use a flashlight in a lit room if I'm looking for something really tiny (screw, thumbtack, needle, etc) on a rug...much easier to find the thing when the focused light reflects off it.
What I find most amsuing is the image enhancement. One episode in Season 2 (Chaos Theory), they were able to pull a perfect image of a parking tag out of a blur on a surveillance camera (I couldn't even see what they were trying to enhance until after it was done).
