I've been out of sorts lately and really needed something to improve my mood.

Yesterday was downright warm for November... warm enough to wear a T-shirt outside. Best of all, it was my day off.

A friend and I had plans, which we promptly cancelled. Instead, we went to the farmer's market for some food, and then to the wine shop for drink. And then, off to the lake for an extended picnic on a bright, sunny day.

And that put us in the mood... to go Christmas shopping.

After being sick for weeks and all the inane drama in life and at work, I really needed a day like that. For the first time in a while, all seemed right with the world. Even the Christmas shopping part.

Some days you realize life doesn't have to be as complicated as we often make it.

Aren't picnics grand? I love them.
My SO and I will have middle-of-the-week lunch picnics. We both work in offices about 10 mins away from each other and sometimes, when the weather is right (or not, we've picnicked when it was 50F out) we'll text each other mid-morning and have lunch at a park.
I have a blanket in my car and he'll just stop by a fast food place and we'll just sit outside, on my blanket, in our SUITS (yes I have to wear a suit to work! Still can't get over that! ) and just veg for about 45 minutes.
It's nice. It's calming. And sometimes it's just the thing to help us through the rest of the day, ya know? :)

Picnics are awesome. You don't even need a second person, you can just sit on a blanket with your lunch and a book, and it's great. :)
