I went to the midnight premiere with some friends. Liked it for the most part, but there were some things that should have been explained more and characters that could have been fleshed out some more. But I'm not going into specifics because this is a no spoilers thread. :)

We're going to try and see it tomorrow. I don't have particularly high expectations for it, especially since some douche on another forum posted a significant shotgun spoiler, but I'll still see it for the heck of it. I've had a stressful day and maybe a popcorn flick is just what I need after the stress of finals. Of course eye candy in the form of Jackman, Reynolds and a little Monaghan doesn't hurt, either :D
Just so long as it's not as atrocious as X3 . . .

not seeing it this weekend (as a rule NEVER go on opening night).
NEXT weekend however me and some friends are going to either abington or asheville, and seeing the new star trek movie! (....yes I realize its opening weekend)
They have the best theater in my region (thats within decent driving distance), so if anyone is interested in meeting up let me know.

Saw it, liked it. They changed a few minor details, but for a popcorn flick it was great.
Theatre wasn't crowded ether. It was me, my friend, and about maybe 60 other people so there were plenty of seats.

We're seeing it on Sunday, then Star Trek next weekend. Thanks for the tip on the credits. We make a habit of waiting to see if there's anything at the end, but it's nice knowing in advance that they'll have some bonus at the end.

i avoided the crowds by seeing the 2pm showing before the schools were out. ;)

My problem wasn't so much what happened with Logan and Jean at the end, but with the writing in general :p It was sloppy and kiddish, Jean/Phoenix had no personality, and then they had to throw in the Rogue/Iceman/Kitty Hawk triangle. Bleh.

Honestly, I liked Kitty Pryde/Shadowcat better for Bobby Drake/Iceman than Rogue.
Then again, I always thought rogue was a silly character. Not once in all her incarnations in the comics, shows, and movies has she had a personality that I found likable.
As far as Wolverine goes though, I liked the movie in general, but I got really pissed about Deadpool. Not sure if I have a right to complain since I don't know exactly how he goes in the comics, but the path he went down in the movie just seemed very counter-character for him, like not something he would or should have let happen to himself.
Trying to keep it vague enough to not be a spoiler, but still vent my rage.

I'm having the same issues. And I really don't know how to expand upon my annoyance without spoiling anything for those who haven't seen it.

It annoyed me that they stuffed up his origins, Where's Rose? where's him growing up working to provide for them both, where's her inevitable fate, etc etc.

We saw it last night and enjoyed it. Although I stayed for part of the credits and saw one little blurb we didn't stay for all the credits! darn!! My husband is really upset with Deadpool. And now knowing what his actual story is I am a little upset myself but I understand why they did what they did cause it's not Xmen origins: Wolverine And Deadpool. I am glad to finally see Gambit in an xmen movie though!

I enjoyed it. I know his origin wasn't the same as the comics, but then Dark Phoenix wasn't the same as the comics either. Heck, have the comics actually settled on his origin?
The sequence at the end of the credits really isn't worth waiting for. Although we've had complaints about the curtain coming down just as it finishes.

The sequence at the end of the credits really isn't worth waiting for.
According to imdb.com, there's the one scene midway through the credits and two different scenes after the credits, depending on which print your theater has. If you saw the one I did, I'm with you, I was a bit disappointed. But the other one described sounds much, much better (at least to me). I guess we'll have to go to another theater or wait for the DVD to see it.

I saw it. I liked it...I was entertained enough to look beyond the few things I saw picture wise...I do not know enough about X Men to be angry about character buidling.
I do have a few wonderings about Deadpool...but, can't spoil it.

Well, to be blunt, they quite butchered his origins to be honest.

Nothing could be... surely? O_o
I might go and see Wolverine; hopefully I won't be clenching my fists and muttering, "It doesn't happen that way in the comics!" like I was during X3. XD

Let me just say for the people who don't know: Deadpool's entire draw in the comics was that he was the only character who would drop pop-culture references, bad puns, and slapstick/black humor on purpose, and he did it with great frequency, even when it was in poor taste or directed at people who would not respond well. The irreverent wisecracking Ryan Reynolds does as Deadpool in the opening few minutes is the thing fans liked most about him.
Now think about what they do to him toward the end and tell me that it was a smart move. I dare you. I f***ing dare you.

Oh you will.
But the intro scene is pretty good. You'll know what I mean when you see it.

I'll tell my boyf that I'll go if he buys the tickets, then at least I won't have spent money on it. XD He won't care; he's not a geek about it the way I am.

I don't have a problem with them being unfaithful to the source material so much as when their choices that steer away from the source actively make it worse.
Going through a convoluted origin story as it was explained in the comics over the last century? Bad. Summing it up and changing some stuff to make it easier to grasp and shoot for a 2 hour movie? Good. Doing what they did to Deadpool? BAAAAD.
However, I did find myself nerding out and getting angry with their effects people for not putting a ray between Scott's eyes and his glasses in the scenes where he wears them. The ruby quartz INTERCEPTS the beams, it doesn't STOP THEM FROM EXISTING.

Sorry for the bit of threadomancy, but I have been trying to see the other scene at the end of the credits. I keep seeing the one with Logan in a bar in Tokyo(?) talking to the waitress. Can anyone tell/PM me what the other one is? I'm kinda (sadly) desperate at this point.
God I have no life.

Check your PMs. And you do have a life because I have one, and I was also obsessing over seeing the other ending. :)
