Legendary football coach Bo Schembechler died Friday night. He coached the Michigan Wolverines for 20 years.

As a Michigan boy, born and raised, I remember when college football season came around. Michigan vs. Michigan State was a big rivalry, but nothing compared to Michigan vs. Ohio State. The electricity in the air, even 3 hours north of Ann Arbor, could be felt when it came time for that game.

This weekend I'll be calling up some old friends that played college football at Michigan, under Bo. A few told me that they considered Schembechler like a father.

You'll be missed, Bo.

I read on a University of Wisconsin message board that many years ago UW interviewed Bo for their football coaching job, but the athletics department, having its head jammed so far up its ass at the time, had basically decided beforehand to hire somebody else.

Same thing with Bobby Knight. Bo told him not to go to UW because of his experience. Oh, what could have been.

It's going to be a hell of a game. I plan on watching it start to finish on TV.
