Well, I have the pumpkin pies in the oven and the Turkey all seasoned and ready to go. I have an apple pie that I am going to bake before the turkey and when the pies are done. I got up 6 this morning to start the pies.

How is everyone else getting along this morning with the cooking? http://www.comicguide.net/images/smilies/hungergirl.gif

Birdzilla is in a sink of cold water, giblets and neck in saucepan on stove. Should have moved him from freezer to refrigerator a bit sooner, it would seem.

Turkey breast is in the oven (Mom put it in at 3 so it should be done between 6 and 6:30.)

Potatoes and green beans/corn are both on the stove waiting to be turned on.

Eggs are boiling (deviled eggs anyone?)

Pound cake on the cake stand in the dining room (under the dome.)

Mom ended up having to throw out all her spices this afternoon while I was at Dad's, so no pumpkin or sweet potato pies today (and I didn't feel like making a 2nd trip to WM today.)

Cranberry sauce is in the fridge, getting cold (which I had to go get this morning as I forgot it somehow yesterday morning.)

And I have a fresh box of wine already chilled in the fridge.

I'll be putting the dressing together in about another hour (it won't take long to cook.)

So right now I've got a bit of time to kill (was only at Dad's for maybe 2 hours before we were all ready to come home. That's a separate post) so I'm here for a short bit.

And the bird is smelling at me . . . and it's making me hungry already and I just ate 3 hours ago.:p

BTW, Seanette, don't feel so bad about the Birdzilla. I set my turkey breast in the fridge Monday morning when I got up and when I got up yesterday at 6, it still wasn't completely thawed.

Last night, birdette (as it's too small to be a Birdzilla) sat out on the counter in water for a spell. She was thawed by the time I got home from work. ;)

Birdzilla's been in the oven for about 3 hours at this point, should be ready in about another hour. Not doing a whole lot else (it's just two of us, after all).

I had to work yesterday morning, and my contributions to dinner was a cheese plate for appetizers and a salad. I got the stuff for a salad and made hubby make it

I really should know better than to do something like a spinach-pear-almond-feta salad near my mom, as she'll do the "oh, so extravagant" thing at me

It was good, though. Shame on the people that doused it with ranch dressing instead of the nice balsamic olive oil dressing I got for it.

I cooked a 25 pound turkey upside down, by accident. I only noticed after taking it out and wondering where the heck the legs where. I blame the pain medication I'm taking. The turkey turned out fine though, so that is what matters.

I also made stuffing, creamed corn, sweet potatos, rolls and mixed vegtables.

You would think my family has never eaten the way they were hoovering around me and asking when it would be done. :p

We had a very yummy fruit pie for dessert with whipped cream.

I normally cook a turkey breast-down (moister white meat that way). Reminds me, must finish dismantling the bird today so I can convert the carcass to soup stock.

I wish we had Thanksgiving in the UK!
